It’s at a good location. Easy to get around. The room I got was spacious. A bit dark in the sense of the wall paint in the hallway and also the wall paper in the bedroom. That being said the Staff were respectful and helpful.

We loved our stay at the hotel, but the breakfast buffet was very disappointing. The eggs tasted artificial, the bacon and sausages were greasy, and there was hardly any variety. It was surprising that a hotel of this quality would serve liquid eggs instead of fresh ones. There were no non-pork options like turkey or chicken sausages, which made it even more limiting for guests who don’t eat pork but still enjoy a hearty breakfast. We ended up ordering breakfast from outside the next day. If there’s a better restaurant within the hotel or building, it would be helpful for guests to be informed about it at check-in.

Too many stairs

The hotel is located on the 10th floor of a very large building. When entering at street level one takes an elevator to the 10th floor for the hotel lobby. The hotel is very picturesque (lots of outdoor gardens, sitting areas and a pool); but although it only occupies one floor there are many levels so guests are required to go up and down stairs to get any place. The building was built in the 1960s so there was little thought about people with disabilities. Apparently there is an elevator added to access "handicapped" rooms. However, it is still a potentially difficult place to navigate. A staff person helped me with my luggage but anyone staying here should be aware of the physical layout of the hotel and the problems that may arise therefore. Ramps have been added to some stairs but the ramps are steep.

The Bonaventure is a hidden treasure! Situated in the heart of downtown Montreal, it has the feel of a tropical resort. We ate our breakfast outside beside the stream -- watching mama and baby ducks swim -- and spent our days lounging at the rooftop pool. The staff members were very kind and helpful. A beautiful experience!

This hotel is an amazing brutalist building. If you like architecture you would enjoy your stay here. On top of that, the Japanese gardens and the interior courtyard made it feel like both a fortress and a sanctuary.
