Our 1-acre lakefront location is the showstopper that makes Island Girl the perfect vacay getaway. This gorgeous, pet-friendly home features fantastic outdoor living areas, a spacious interior, a private canal, pier & boathouse, and direct Lake Catherine access. Beautifully styled + equipped with kayaks, fishing & crabbing gear, the property is ideal for families or friends traveling together. Step in, drop your luggage, and be on the water in under 5 minutes–it doesn’t get any better than this!

Island Girl is a beautiful lakefront home just 30minutes from the heart of New Orleans that comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests. The residence boasts a gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances and convenient bar seating that seamlessly transitions to the dining and living areas. Guests will love this social space’s hardwood floors and large windows that take full advantage of the breathtaking lake views. French doors offer quick access to the home’s wrap-around deck where there is a dining table, gas grill, and more of those amazing Lake Catherine views.

Down the hall, each of our 3 bedrooms is impeccably styled with soothing, modern finishes that immediately relax the senses, sleeping configurations as follows:

Bedroom 3 – Two twin beds

The home’s 2 full bathrooms are modern and bright with shower/tub combos that make bathing the kiddos after a day on the lake a breeze.

Outdoor living is unparalleled at Island Girl with Lake Catherine as your backyard and endless views for scenery! In addition to the upper wrap around deck, the lower-level houses private parking, a picnic table, and all the gear you need for enjoying the lake including 4 kayaks, life jackets, fishing poles, and crab traps. When it’s time to get out on the water, simply launch the kayaks directly from our shoreline into the private canal or walk down our dock to the boathouse for fishing and crabbing in the shade.

Bringing your own boat? Easy – launch it at Island Marina just down the road then drive along the shoreline to our boathouse where you can tie off. And they don’t call this area fisherman’s paradise for nothing! We also have great recommendations for local, professional fishing guides to maximize your sporting time on the water. Be sure to inquire if you are interested.

Staying at Island Girl provides the best of both worlds with a location just 25 minutes from New Orleans and 30 minutes to the MS Gulf Coast. Spend the days/nights enjoying the parties, parades and casinos then head to Island Girl for a relaxing and quiet stay away from the excitement.

Comfortable house, kitchen had everything and more. Lots of extra amenities. Laurie was very responsive. Sunrise was amazing every day. Plan on bringing drinking water.

A week in NOLA

We had a great time visiting New Orleans and surrounding areas and then able to be outside the city and relax when we were done. Loved being on the lake and watching the sun rise every morning.

Loved this place!!!

Thank you, Laurie! You are an amazing host and we loved our long weekend on Lake Catherine. The house was stocked with everything we could have needed and then some!!! We only wish there had been fish for catching (probably just not the right time of year). But there were plenty of alligators that entertained us! Lol!!! This was absolutely the perfect place for us to relax, unwind and reconnect. We make a trip to NOLA every year and now that we’ve found this beautiful home, we may add a fews days to our annual getaway for some much needed rest and relaxation!

Great House

Our family enjoyed our vacation at Island Girl. We arrived after dark. Laurie left the lights on for us. This property is well furnished and clean. We had everything we needed. We enjoyed using the kayaks, fishing from the dock, and relaxing in this quiet and scenic location where there is an abundance of wildlife. It is located just a short drive from the French Quarter. I do recommend bringing plenty of drinking water and bug repellent.

New Years Getaway

From the moment we pulled up we knew we booked the best place! The house was beautiful, the property was breathtaking. Laurie was very accommodating and answered all of our questions. The house was tastefully decorated and super spotless! The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals and very spacious. Our only regret was that we didn’t take advantage of the beautiful dock and the kayaks. Definitely will come back again!

WONDERFUL!

We had an amazing time! What a relaxing location this was! Laurie was an amazing host who offers all the needed amenities. We felt right at home. Perfectly located between New Orleans and Slidell we had access to anything we wanted to do while being away from it all and able to relax in the sun and breeze. My kids caught crabs off the dock and even took a fishing charter with Captain Dudley and caught so many fish we had to fly them home. Thank you, Laurie, for sharing your perfect home with us. We are busy telling all of our friends to come do the same!

Amazing place!

This property was amazing. From the stock of supplies all the way down to fishing poles to the overall property. My sons had an amazing time fishing. They are usually “gamers” but they woke up fishing and went to bed fishing. My only wish would have been a fire pit but overall we will definitely come back.

Perfect Little Get Away

The location was great . The camp was clean. The accommodations were perfect for this little trip. Everyone had fun. Other than the cold, rainy weather, it was worth the get away. We’d book this place again.

Best VRBO ever!

From day 1 the communication was awesome. Laurie let us know what to expect as far as what was stocked, and all she provided so we didn't have to worry about stopping at the store after our long flight. Best stocked house by far. The house is beautiful, the dock and pier is where we spent a lot of time, just perfect. We happened to be there when New Orleans got hit by 2 tornados (17 miles away from us) but the storm itself was pretty intense. Laurie checked on us to make sure we were OK during the storm, I thought that was so sweet. Lots to do in New Orleans, fishing charters in Vience too. If you want to relax and just fish and crab off the dock at the house, this place is amazing. You will not be disappointed! Loved it!

Calm and Peaceful Views

We spent thanksgiving at the house, and completely enjoyed ourselves. The house was very well decorated and appointed. The deck and pier were favorites where we talked and gazed out into the lake, taking in beautiful scenery and sunsets. Close to New Orleans and Slidel, but far enough away for peace and quiet.

Great spot on Lake Catherine with amazing sunrise views, short drive to NOLA, and wonderful gems in Slidell. Staycation, workcation, or vacation this location is 5 star.
