AC broken

The AC in the room wasn’t working and there’s no way to open the windows. It took me two calls and over thirty minutes to get someone to come try to make it work. When that failed I had to request a fan.

Go Somewhere Else For a Drink

Went to the bar twice for a drink. Never did get one. The first time, we were told the bartender was on a break. The second time the bartender did not acknowledge us. I would say we waited for five to 10 minutes. We would of understood if the bar was really busy.

Hotel and rooms were great (actual rooms are quite small but nice), staff was professional and kind. Parking was a little annoying as you had to be let into the lot by security at the front desk (though he was prompt and friendly). Lot was across the street, having to call ahead or wait to park was inconvenient. The area felt moderately unsafe at night and was quite noisy, not the hotel's fault just a general observation.

Additional fees never mentioned anywhere

I prepaid for the nights but when I checked in they charged me several hundred additional dollars for "incidentals". !? I guess this is the Intercontinental? Nowhere during my booking, on their website, or on any sign at the check in did it mention this large additional charge that won't be refunded until 7-10 days?!

Moxy is a mindset. It belongs to Marriot but it has lots of character. It doesn’t feel sterile, and it offers a variety of activities like trivia night or DJ knights, and games during the week. Their bar is cool and open until 2pm on Thursday. Leilani, David and Thor other front desk coworkers are super nice and took care of my needs. My only complain was the non-working phone (they have bedside stories on it) and and broken AC. They are walking distance from great restaurants and short Ubers from other attractions. I’ll make sure to go back when we are in the area

Moxy Oakland Uptown is a chic hotel with a cool vibe, good bar, and a great and friendly staff. The neighborhood is close to some homeless camps and the pay parking lots nearby are not secure at all. The Moxy subleases a parking lot which is fully fenced and is secure. It is across the street and to the left of the front of the hotel so not super convenient but it was worth the $47.00 daily parking fee for the peace of mind knowing that our car was not going to be broken into. The room is nicely furnished, modern, and the TV must have been 80" and 4K. We stayed for one night only for my nephew's wedding. The room was super quiet, the bed was great, and overall I give this place a thumbs up.

Great service, call about accessible rooms

The wheelchair accessible rooms did not have blackout curtains as advertised, but the manager kindly moved me to a room that could accommodate my chair and had that needed amenity. Got a new key within 15min. I’d love to see them fix the wheelchair accessible rooms — but service was excellent making this a 5 star stay for me. Call if you have multiple access needs to confirm ahead.
