This cottage was perfect for 2 adult couples, 2 adolescent kids, and a dog. We were often sitting on the outside porch, watching the kids play on the expansive lawn - felt the coolish breezes and heard the calming sound of wind chimes - soothing and peaceful! There were 3 kayaks for our use, which were lying on a dock at the end of the lawn on the bay side - wonderful bay to explore and so comfortable out there, with occasional wild life to see, plus some beautiful homes perched on top of expansive rocks. In the cottage there was an upstairs where the 2 bedrooms plus a bathroom were, with a door at the bottom of the stairs, which was very handy for keeping the dog out. The kids were very content with sleeping on the pull-out living room couch's bed, and on the comfortable futon couch-bed in the front enclosed porch. The location of the house is very remote, it being towards the end of a long dirt, winding and beautiful road. There was a nice short walk down the road to the end, which was a rocky edge to the ocean, with 3 chairs available for taking in the views !!! Plus there was a short hiking trail going up a hill, with panoramic views at the top. Popham Beach, one of Maine's most beautiful beaches is only about a mile away, but you need to get there early in order to get a parking spot - plus there is a parking permit available for those staying at the cottage. We visited Bath one day and were surprised to see how lovely it was, with some funky shops, including a few art galleries displaying the works of several very talented and creative local artists. Boothbay Harbor is about a 40 - 45 minute drive, and worth going to, for the lovely old New England types of houses all along the harbor, the shops, and the feel of a traditionally quaint and elegant coastal Maine town.
