The property was clean and comfortable. The beds are great and they provide extra blankets. There are lots kitchen supplies for cooking and grilling. The sunrise views are simply stunning. There is plenty of room on the deck. We had to call the property manager twice for a couple of issues and they responded immediately. Couldnt have asked for better service. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

This beach house has just about everything you need or want. I had to make a birthday cake for my daughter and they even had a hand mixer.Plenty of towels, paper goods and cleaning supplies. The AC works great and was very comfortable. Location was nice and as always less crowded during the week. Sliding door was extremely difficult to open and close especially for my 7 year old daughter and our 50 something year old shoulders. Our family will definitely be back. You can tell the owners want you to enjoy your stay and come and stay again.

New Year's on the Beach

We loved our stay! It was so nice being directly on the beach. We were constantly going back and forth from the beach to the house for meals, grabbing something we needed, etc. We were impressed with the sea shells we collected in this area of the beach. The house is away from crowds which was great with vacationing with my Autistic kiddo.

Our Hearts Will Always Be In The Cottage By The Sea

Our family just returned from an amazing time at the Cottage del Mar!! It was our children's first ocean experience. We were so impressed by the family friendliness of the cottage and the beach was so close that the kids could just walk a few feet and play there all day. The house - It was pleasantly and beautifully decorated, but there were no fragile knick-knacks for them to accidently break. There were some nice extra's on site as well (A pack n' play for our infant, a small high chair) that made our stay a little much more enjoyable. Also the master bedroom had 3 huge windows that faced the water, so you could go to sleep watching the waves and wake up doing the same. The porch - We were not expecting this to be such a center point for the vacation, but it was amazing to sit on, eat meals and just plain relax here. We gathered as a family to watch the unbelievable sunrises and sunsets. Plenty of patio furniture for all members of our family to find a comfy spot and enjoy. Location - The house is located on a section of the beach where you are not bothered by anyone. So peaceful it felt like we had rented out a private beach to ourselves. We went over to Galveston on the ferry for a day and were reminded of how busy that area can be. We were happy to take the ferry back to Port Bolivar and return to a slower pace of life! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend this trip to anyone looking to relax and get away from their busy day-to-day life.

Great stay

This property was very clean, well-equipped and exactly as advertised. The outdoor porch and seats were perfect and the beach access was great. Since there is a large overgrown and uncut area on the road side of the property, we did have some trouble with mosquitoes. Be sure to bring spray.

I really don't want to give the glowing review this property deserves because I really don't want to share!! LOL of course, too good not to share. The home is just nearly perfect for my taste...well laid out, well stocked, very clean and near perfect location to suit my taste. I love that it feels really "beachy" but still has a very homey feel to it. We were just two "besties" carrying out a long time threat to "run away alone to the beach!", but this could be shared with two small families, a large family...just very comfortable. The ONE smallish complaint I have is not from this property at all but the neighboring house to the east. Though it was not occupied there were several very bright patio lights shinning all the time. Ruined being able to look toward the sunrise from that very comfortable deck this house has. Otherwise, wonderful, all the way around! Thanks so much for sharing :) We've planning to run away again, soon!

Beautiful beach property

We enjoyed our stay at this property so much! Everything was perfect, from the location right on the beach, to the perfectly stocked and cleaned house, to the comfortable bed, to the excellent air conditioning. We loved the clean beautiful beach and we found lots of shells and sea glass, and we saw an amazing assortment of birds. You will not be sorry you rented this property.

Great home and location

We have visited Bolivar Peninsula many times and this is by far the best place for our particular needs. Check in and check out was a breeze. House is well appointed with furniture and kitchen supplies. Even has some board games to play. Quiet location. Great views. Just a few steps to the beach. Unless I am just technically challenged, one of my warnings would be to come prepared to log on to streaming services since the home provides Roku tv. We were hoping to see some events on cable tv but were unable to. We hope to return.

1st Stay on the Bolivar Peninsula!

Absolutely fantastic! Perfect location for myself, spouse, m-i-l. and our 15 lb Malshi. Great location without the hustle/bustle of Galveston island. Casa Del Mar comes fully equiped. We greatly enjoyed the local atmosphere of the Big Store, Nauti Pig, and adult beverage locations.....

Steps from Paradise

Cottage Del Mar is nicely appointed, it's clear the owners have put a lot of work into it. The access to the beach is such a big deal for our family. You can walk outside, down the steps, through a small yard, onto a pathway and 20 yards from the slab you're on the beach. Very few properties on Bolivar have a pathway directly from yard to beach.

Great property. Beach is just beyond the yard. House is open floor plan, plenty of space for big families to enjoy time together inside or out. Loved the captain chairs on the deck to enjoy the elevated views and breeze.

Beach Wedding

We booked this house because it was 4 doors down from my best friends beach wedding. The house was perfect. It was clean, kitchen fully stocked and little things you never knew you would need ( like little flashlights for when a storm blew through and knocked out electricity in the town). It was very tastefully decorated. The patio was the highlight. Great place to relax with coffee or a drink. The beach culture was interesting and not what I expected. The beach was very fishing friendly. We had professional shark fishermen set up next to the house. They were very friendly and allowed the kids to all look at their 6 foot shark catch. However, all the chumming of the water deterred us from adventuring too far out in the water. On the beach, there were several interesting trump parades and cars waving confederate flags out the window- something a bit uncomfortable for our diverse crew. Also, some men riding dirt bikes decided to drive right through the wedding ceremony and attempt to splash water and sand on the bride and groom, rather than going around on the open sand road behind the ceremony. And they made sure to yell “public beach” during their ride. Despite the interesting beach culture, we did enjoy our stay. Just thought it would be fair to know what your getting into when you stay in this area.

Beach Oasis

The house was beautiful and the views were absolutely immaculate! My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything about the house was perfect except for the sliding glass door being hard to open and the mosquitoes were bad first thing in the morning and late at night. But even with those two little issues, it was well worth the stay. We will definitely be booking again!
