The staff were wonderful: they cheerfully accommodated our wish to access our room early. Everyone was kind and helpful. The rooms were spotless, the bed extremely comfortable. The location is perfect: the Thaxter is in the heart of the old port city and you are surrounded by beautiful historic buildings, good restaurants and interesting shops. Hotel was clean. Had everything we needed. Great staff and great/clean food. Awesome location. This hotel was very great except the shower. The bathroom was cold and it’s an open door shower so it’s not warm till the end of the shower. Kind of defeats the purpose of having heated floors. I think the shower should have a door and better heat or better insulation for the bathroom window. The room has great heat and a bougie coffee/ tea maker. I would rate a 4 1/2 out of 5!
