About this property

Contemporary 2‑Bedroom Apartment in a Wildlife‑Rich Tropical Urban Park, Osa Pen

This contemporary 2‑bedroom apartment sits inside the world’s first recognized Tropical Urban Park — a four‑acre living landscape quietly woven into the town of Puerto Jiménez. The apartment is fully private, garden‑level, and surrounded by ponds, gardens, raised walkways, and the natural movement of wildlife that has lived here long before the park was protected. It is not a resort and not a retreat center; it is a calm ecological space held gently within town, offering privacy, immersion, and a grounded sense of place.

The Setting: A Living Tropical Urban Park

Trails, small bridges, orchids, heliconias, and sun‑basking iguanas create a soft rhythm around the apartment. Wildlife moves freely through the landscape: butterflies drifting through the understory, toucans and scarlet macaws overhead, and sloths resting in the canopy. Coatis and kinkajous pass along the edges, while basilisks, geckos, and green iguanas warm themselves in the sun.
After rain, tree frogs and rain frogs emerge, and at dusk, bats and owls begin their quiet work.

At certain times of year, scarlet macaws feed in the almond trees and occasionally drop seeds onto the roof — a small reminder of how close the canopy truly is. Twice each day, hundreds of green parrots sweep through the treetops, marking the shift between day and night. Nothing here is staged or fed; wildlife appears on its own terms.

A Recognized Urban Biodiversity Hotspot

More than 90 bird species have been identified within the park, making it a locally recognized urban birding hotspot. Many guests remark — often with genuine surprise — that they saw more wildlife here than during their visit to Corcovado National Park.
The park thrives because it is protected, quiet, chemical‑free, and woven into the daily rhythm of town.

Apartment Layout and Indoor Comforts

This garden‑level apartment is designed for privacy, ease, and connection to the surrounding landscape. It includes:

• Two private bedrooms with air conditioning
• One full bathroom with hot water
• A fully equipped private kitchen
• Two pull‑out couches for additional guests
• Indoor and outdoor sitting areas
• WiFi throughout
• Direct access to trails, ponds, and gardens

The design is modern, simple, and intentionally low‑intervention, allowing the ecology to remain the primary presence.

Shared Park Spaces Available to Apartment Guests

In addition to the private apartment, guests have access to several shared ecological spaces within the Tropical Urban Park:

• A large open‑air common lounge with 20‑foot ceilings
• A shared half‑bathroom located beside the outdoor lounge
• A shared rooftop deck with excellent wildlife viewing
• An outdoor garden shower
• A chemical‑free freshwater plunge pool under palms
• WiFi zones
• Small rest areas among flowering plants
• Onsite parking
• Light orientation support for exploring the Osa Peninsula

These spaces are designed for calm observation rather than resort‑style activity.

Location: Quiet Ecology Within Town

The Tropical Urban Park sits within a one‑minute walk of the domestic airport — a small propeller‑aircraft airstrip with no jet engines — and the essentials of town. Directly across the street are a convenience store and a local laundromat.

The beach, town center, and banks are a seven‑minute walk, allowing you to move easily between the ecological calm of the park and the practical life of Puerto Jiménez without needing a vehicle.
Just beyond the park’s edge, the mangrove channels offer a chance to quietly observe American crocodiles in their natural habitat — an everyday part of the Osa’s coastal ecosystem and a reminder of the region’s wild continuity from forest to sea.

Stewardship and Purpose

Your stay contributes to the ongoing protection of this urban ecological corridor — an evolving model for how tropical biodiversity can coexist with community life.
The park is quiet, contemplative, and alive, offering a grounded sense of place within the town itself.

This property is very unique. The owners were very accommodating. We were able walk to the local restaurants and stores. The sloths and birds were out daily. This place was truly Costa Rica. My Family and I had a great time.
