The staff at Canto Del Sol are very friendly, helpful, & are genuinely happy to work there. The staff at the buffet area, the cevicheria, pool area, entertainment, & housekeeping. We never encountered someone who was not happy. Various pools- the main pool has the kiddie & main pool, pool activities, music, direct access to the buffet, & snack area. Very attentive staff making sure our drinks were always full. Tip- take a travel mug as their cups are not allowed in or around the pool areas. I appreciate that this was enforced by the 2-3 security men that are making sure everyone is safe. The other pool is across the hotel, you take a short bridge where you find the cevicheria (that is amazing) & a relaxed & calm environment with low music. The only cons are the facilities, the pools have several missing tiles, & the room we stayed in (super saver) had

Like many people I had read the reviews and was a little skeptical but let me assure you once we got there everything went seamlessly Yes the resort is a bit on the older side but it's extremely clean everywhere Our room was cleaned daily And once you figure out that Hot is cold and cold is hot you will enjoy a Hot Shower!! LOL The food for us was really mediocre but you can always find something that you would enjoy eating. The breakfast are phenomenal with enough choices to please absolutely everybody Fruits are fresh the eggs are fresh ect. The service in eating area is phenomenal they are all super friendly. And you are just a close ride to the Malecon Where the best two for one Margarita are .. Not the hotel that was my one disappointment The beach is great No Umbrellas but don't worry there is a fella there that will rent you one for 300 pesos for the day. We did that for 7 days .. support the locals :) This hotel is geared towards the Mexicans You are in Mexico! Oh and our bed was super comfy.. Cheers

All of the above , resort was over crowded and under staffed. It took us 2 1/2 hours to check in , by the time we got our tickets to book a la Carte meals everything was sold out and throughout our 5 day stay we ended up eating at the buffet for 4. By the second day the food was so bad we opted to eat in the city costing us an additional 500$ for our stay rather than eating on the resort. Staff is kind , that’s the only positive. I will not be coming back.

the pool rules were ridiculous !! you could not have your drink in the pool or even on the edge of the pool. When I finally got my room, there was not a single towel in the room. It took them 2 hours to finally bring me my towels. Never again !!

The kitchen stove didn't work properly. The food selection was really bad! They have the same food every day on the buffet. They didn't have enough selection for my son. I was very disappointed about food. I will not go back to this resort. Overall, the staff was very nice!

We went over the Christmas and New Years break! Never again! The sun and the weather and the loungers by the pool were excellent!! Too many local tourists and the hotel was over booked therefore it was difficult to make any restaurant reservations as there was so many people for the resort to accommodate! Long lineups for food. Poor food quality and variety. Everyday the resort ran out of running water and we had to take water from buckets to flush the public toilets. The electricity went out twice in our 8 days! The bell men were very friendly and helpful as were the breakfast waiters. The rest of the staff were not as friendly or accommodating! We were given 4 tickets to reserve dinner at one of the 3 restaurants in our 8 night stay. I could only reserve 2 nights as the resort was full so our only option for dinner most nights was the buffet. This is a family resort and they didn’t offer any ice cream!! Our room smelled like mold. I reserved a king bed and got 2 very hard twin beds for me and my husband. Our room did not come with a mini bar, just 2 bottles of water out on the table. Definitely the worst resort we have stayed at and will not come back again!

Ill start with the good. The bar staff and restaurant staff is great. The pool is nice, get up early to get your poop chairs. Now the bad. The hotel ran out of running water 5 of the 7days we were there. 1 day we didnt have electricity. The partial ocean view rooms are tiny and 1 of our 2 rooms didnt have a balcony, just a little window. Check out is 11am. They dont allow you to keep your bracelets or towels any later then that. Our flight was at 7pm and we had to leave our luggage and go find something to do for the whole day. We have never had that happen anywhere else. We have always been able to keep our bracelet and towel until we leave for our flight. The food was terrible. We arent very picky travelers but this experience left a bad taste. We ended up eating at restaurants off the resort everyday for dinner.

We stayed for 7 days and 1 day a transformer blew leaving the whole hotel without power for 7 hours so no restaurants, no air conditioning. Also 3 other separate days we were left with no water in the whole hotel, no shower services, no bathroom services. The longest incident was New Years Eve with no water or toilets. We found this unacceptable and left a day early!

Check in was very slow. Was not provided WIFI information or buffet or food location and times. Monday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday evening and night. Thursday morning no running water in our room. News even there was an event and we weren’t notified that the Buffet was closed. The event buffet was seafood. To prevent food allergies it is recommended that 2 year olds not eat seafood. My daughter had to go out of her way to get a none food seafood diner for my 2 year old granddaughter.. I will never stay at this resort again. Due to the lack of running water 3 nights in a row this room was not serviceable. I think I should be partially refunded for the nights running water in my room was not available

We stayed 4 nights and each night there was a horrible noise of a truck for hours that keeper us up. The staff super friendly. They had specialty restaurants and we could not find reservations since we checked in, they already knew at reception and they still gave up coupons for the sold out specialty restaurants. Food was ok, it will be nicer to have more options but unfortunately we only ate at the buffet all of our stay.

We've been going to PV for 25+ years and have stayed at all levels and all sorts of resorts, villas, basic hotels, and full all-inclusive. Canto del Sol was passable, but just barely. Everything was just shy of mediocre - from the buffet to the pool to the room to the staff. There were intermittent highlights (one particular staff, for example), but overall it was a disappointment. Specifics - the pool was big (+), but dirty and with lots of wear & tear; the room was clean (+), but the pull-out sofa was broken (they did repair quickly, but quite a hassle when discovering at bedtime with kids) and they didn't supply any bedding until we requested it. Also, the room had only sheer curtains, most of which you couldn't draw fully over the windows and there was no light-blocking curtains, so with all the outside lighting on the building, the room was far from dark for sleeping. Staff (except the one mentioned above) seemed quite disinterested - simply doing the bare minimum with very little engagement or genuine care for supporting a quality holiday. One staff even threw away my son's flip flops from the pool deck when he stayed until the closing time. We were told the pool was closed by the same person and when he got out and tried to find his flip-flops, she looked embarrassed and went to the garbage to retrieve them. They are all minor things, but just quite disappointing.
