What went well: We did receive a room upgrade with VIP Access. We had three rooms and they were able to do one of them to a swim out.
A good portion of the food was fantastic.
The property is new, but you can tell some parts of it were built quickly as one of the restaurants had a huge leak the first day we were there due to an unexpected storm. Lots of seating at the pool and beach which was awesome. No stress about waking up early to get a good spot.
Majority of the staff is friendly and helpful. Shout-out to Itzel from Kakao, Luis from the Grill, Heydi and Fernando from the beach/pool, Samuel the bellman.
What didn't go well: Although we did get an upgrade, I did have to tell them I booked through the VIP Access program to get the ball rolling.
Kanpai - We had to split our party of 6 and the only time available was 9:00PM. The fried rice was salty, the steak was overcooked, and the sea bass was undercooked. If I had known this would be probably the least pleasant food at the property, I would have never gone. My experience overall would have been better had I never gone Kanpai at all.
Water Sports: The Aquaworld team were a pain to deal with. They were rude and not helpful. They wanted us to pay for the Hobie Boat which is supposed to be free and told us they don't have snorkels. All of these are on the app that say they are free!
There was some good and bad. Overall about a 7/10. I don't think I'd return.
