The staff were very friendly and helpful, the receptionist had booked guests in a million times and was very efficient. The young waitress who served me was originally from Kent and l recognised her accent from coming from where l used to live. My room 101 was a nice location, full view of the Scotch Corner roundabout and could see the snow and when it was clear so l could get on my way to continue my journey to Scotland. It really is in a fantastic location. Breakfast was good the chef made the best porridge in the North East so he tells me.

Room was good. Bed very comfortable and huge. Staff was very good, all of them, reception, room staff and especially the breakfast staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly. The breakfast was really nice with plenty of variety. Plenty of parking. Only negatives were the condition of the bathroom, the window was unsightly as well as incredibly draughty. The wash basin waste would bubble up for long periods due to back pressure building up in the waste/soil systems within the hotel. Sometimes for an hour or so. Also a really nauseating smell especially in the foyer which hit you as you walked in - it smelled of an open sewer - we did mention this at reception, the smell disappeared after about 3 days. Hopefully this was resolved. But - we have stayed here a good few times and will still return. This hotel is convenient for many locations in the area and is still very good value.

Convenient location if traveling to the area. Would be great if you have an EV since there are so many chargers. I didn't eat here so cannot attest to the food. Room was clean and comfy, well appointed. Quiet despite being near the motorway.

Decor is getting tired and needs a refurbishment. We had a room overlooking road and road noise was loud. Bathroom felt cold as no heating and large window with no window dressing and downpipe noise. We have stayed previously with room away from the road and internal bathroom which was better. Staff were helpful and friendly and location is convenient for exploring the area.

We opted for breakfast in our room and enjoyed the options we received, especially the pancakes. Everything was spotless and all the staff we welcoming and helpful. There was a cafe option as well as the restaurant which was nice.

A very different experience to what I had 3 years ago. The hotel is still very much the same however it’s starting to look tired and dated. The most disappointing part for myself was the food, last time was superb however this time a very different experience. Meatball starter is stone cold. Medium steak was severed blue. The ribeye burger lacked a lot of love.
