Newly renovated 1860s Cape. Only a block away from a beach and picnic area. Follow the boardwalk to Rockland Farmer's Market, restaurants, theater, museums, galleries, shops, and festivities. Walkable yet conveniently away from in-town noise and traffic.

Traditional structure, contemporary decor, spacious kitchen with modern baths. Simple, clean, and restful with plenty of natural light. Thoughtfully edited and ready to be your home away from home. Everything you need and nothing more.

• Well-stocked kitchen and dining area

SECOND FLOOR:
• Two bedrooms with King-size beds, new deluxe mattresses, 650-thread-count cotton sheets, blackout shades, and closets stocked with extra blankets and hypoallergenic pillows
• A full bathroom with a shower and two sinks.
• A laundry closet with a full-size washer and dryer
• A hall linen closet with extra sets of bed sheets and plenty of towels

THINGS TO NOTE:
• AC/Heat control in every room
• Blackout shades in bedrooms
• Natural cleaning products and bath soaps used and stocked
• 10-min walk to downtown and bike and kayak rentals
• 15-min drive to hiking trails, lighthouses, beaches, and islands
• Keypad entry lock
• Two dogs on the property. When indoors, the dogs will not be heard. However, if the windows are open, you may hear occasional barking.

GETTING AROUND:
• Walking is best for in-town activities, especially during festivities and events.
• Bike to lighthouses and beaches (bring your own or rentals available, just a 10-minute walk).
• Charter a sailboat and rent kayaks to nearby islands (mid-coast magic is best to experience from the ocean).

NEIGHBORHOOD:
• It is walkable, friendly, and an easy place to meet locals and visitors
• Drink coffee by the beach, sit on the boulders, smell the sea, and listen to the ospreys
• Enjoy the bustling harbor, and identify the schooners, ferries, and nearby islands
• Thursdays at Rockland Farmer's Market by the harbor. Support local farmers and makers, enjoy seasonal vegetables, locally made bread, cheeses, and locally sourced meats. Listen to music and eat pizzas and breakfast bialy sandwiches.
• Drop by art galleries and museums, wildlife refuge visitor center, boat school, lighthouse, and steamboat museums.
• Bike to lighthouses, beaches, and trails. Kayak or sail around the harbor and look for 7 Mountain Peaks.
• Watch Rockland Harbor light up at sunset. Look for the moon rising over the horizon.
• Check the local music and movie listings.
• Fall asleep listening to the fog horns.

One of The Best VRBO Ever

We have stayed at many VRBOs and AB&Bs during our travels. This one is a total winner. It is very well equipped with everything you could want and the attention to detail by Jin and Wayne is evident throughout. The location cannot be beat being close to shops and restaurants and within a short drive to state parks etc. with wonderful views of the bay. The place is beautifully updated and the gardens are beautiful.

If this home is available…BOOK IT!

This home and entire experience was fantastic. The house is as lovely as the photos show it to be. The house is carefully planned out by obvious seasoned travelers, they didn’t miss a beat. It has everything you can think of needing and a few things I didn’t think of, but was glad to see. Jin even had some items ready for me in the fridge to get me through the first evening and the morning, so I could relax my way into my stay. The beds, furniture, kitchen supplies, everything has been well taken care and of good quality. The home was spotless. There was a snow storm the was a bit bigger than expected and Jin contacted me to make sure I could get out of the driveway and use the walkway. Ready to bring in someone to make sure I could. One of my favorite things about the house, besides the coffee, beds, shower, tv, pillows…were the blinds. They worked from the top or the bottom, I could release them from the top, let light in and still have privacy. I’ve been renting in Rockland every month for the last year and this is the place I look for availability every time.Thank you Jin for making my stay so comfortable!

Snowy February visit to see Grandsons

I cannot say enough complimentary things about the “Salty Cape”!The listing photos and location were what drew me in initially and the reality did not disappoint! Our snowy week visit was brightened by the bright white: neutral Japandi decor! The homeowners know how to welcome visitors. There was nothing they had not thought oft that we could possibly need. Absolutely exceptional rental!!

Owners of this property are simply amazing. The ease of communication and thoughtfulness they've put into this property are evident the moment you walk in the door. Decor is bright, clean, elegant and simple. Views are stunning. Walking distance to downtown area and restaurants. Every detail has been thought of. I don't have any current plans to return to Maine, but if/when I do, I won't look anywhere else. Thank you again for a fabulous experience!

The Salty Cape is Exceptional!

We stayed at the Salty Cape for one month. Our hosts Jin & Wayne were so pleasant and accommodating. The checkin was effortless. The house was extremely comfortable and clean. It is decorated beautifully with no clutter. Having two bedrooms with king beds was a real plus as well as a large bathroom with great shower and full capacity washer and dryer. We enjoyed very much the individual controlled AC in each room and great window shades that allowed as much or as little light in every room. The location could not have been better with being steps away from the water and boardwalk to walk to town. A lovely relaxed town and so nice to be near Camden for Schooner Sails. Jin's flower gardens were beautiful and we enjoyed having fresh flowers in the house. We hope to return. Thank you Jin and Wayne

Serene getaway

The best rental ever, in a beautiful location

Everything about our stay was beyond what we had hoped for. The hosts are warm, thoughtful, welcoming and delightful. The house is designed with gorgeous and artistic sensibility as well as being truly comfortable and inviting. The location is by far Rockland's best, as you awaken to the sunrise over the bay. The Sky Spread Out Above the Coast

The Salty Cape deserves a galaxy of stars! The hosts were so welcoming and helpful, and communicated well before and throughout our stay, yet giving us complete privacy. The home is absolutely beautiful, providing a clean, comfortable and calm stay. There are thoughtful touches throughout, and everything that you might need is provided, along with excellent instructions on appliances and other procedures. The home handbook contains many suggestions for local attractions and establishments. The Salty Cape is the ideal vacation home, conveniently located directly on the midcoast and steps away from Rockland’s Harbor Walk. It was a constant joy to see the views from every window in the Salty Cape: Rockland coast homes and gardens, and the bay and the changing colors of the sky above it. Top notch accommodations with great views close to town

The house was so clean and had all you need for a great time in Rockland. We went with our daughters and we all consider the comfort of the beds and bathrooms as important factors; all were 5 star here without question! Kitchen and living room also were very comfortable and spacious. The owners were delightful and always willing to help. As good as it gets! And we travel a lot.

Perfect property

We absolutely loved our stay in Rockland, Maine. I travel to Maine at least once a year and I don’t plan to stay anywhere else. The property was immaculate and well equipped. Great location with a water view and an amazing place to walk. Lin was the perfect host and I felt free to text her about anything. Anyone would fall in love with this property.

Beautiful Rockland

This is the most immaculate and thoughtful rental we have ever stayed in. Every detail was considered with Jin and Wayne got the property prepared including fresh flowers, milk and orange juice and phone chargers. In addition to a simply beautiful and spotless property with incredible views of the harbor, the outdoor gardens are so beautiful and lush. Jin was outdoor gardening and gave us wonderful restaurant recommendations that absolutely enhanced our trip. The midcoast area of Maine is so scenic and a relaxing place to explore and vacation. We would absolutely return to this gorgeous property.

Perfection!

This house is perfect - owner Jin has thought of everything, no detail is left unattended. It is spotless, full of light, extremely well equipped and very convenient to a small swimming beach as well as downtown Rockland. It is beautifully decorated, and the bed was very comfortable. Fresh flowers in every room and some breakfast food were very thoughtful and appreciated touches. You can't go wrong in renting this house. Its a block from a restaurant that is convenient, has a nice view and some live music, but there are better downtown - Hills for seafood, Ada's for fantastic pasta, Clan Maclaren for wonderful lobster rolls and sandwiches. We also enjoyed Happy Clam and The Causeway restaurant in Tenants harbor. The Farnsworth and great galleries are a short walk away. The stairs are a bit steep but there is a powder room on the main level so you don't need to go up and down a lot. Lovely landscaping and nice Adirondack chairs for relaxing on the lawn.

Special Touches

We really enjoyed our stay in this house. The owners took the time to leave little touches to make us feel welcome. Fresh flowers, basic condiments and even ingredients for breakfast made us feel at home. So special! The house was very clean and fresh and the beds/sheets were so comfortable. Just a heads up, both bedrooms are upstairs and the ascend is a little steep. I only mention it because I sometimes travel with a girlfriend who would have had a difficult time. My husband and I had no trouble but just wanted to mention it just in case there is someone in your group who might find it hard. The location is close to the water and definitely walkable to town....about .7 miles. I am not sure if we will find ourselves in Rockland again but if we do, I would absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful Seaside Abode

The owner, Jin, took care of our every need! Well stocked with essentials and immaculate rooms. Cozy and warm during the storm and the perfect kitchen for preparing meals and having our daughter and family over. And Jin knows the area well so she is a wealth of information. We loved being able to walk into town and enjoy the excellent restaurants. Lovely surrounding views of the water from bedroom and kitchen. We will be back!!

Nothing but exceptional praise!

I was a little nervous about staying in a place with no ratings…BUT, the photos were amazing! I am so glad we took a chance, because we were rewarded with a five-star VRBO experience. We arrived after dark, we were exhausted, we fell into bed and crashed. We woke up to the most beautiful view outside our bedroom window. I think we’d be hard pressed to find a better location. Ohhhh and their landscaping and veggie gardens were an added plus for this gardening junkie! The inside of the house has been meticulously done, and we wanted for absolutely nothing while we were there. The kitchen was perfectly appointed, and we enjoyed cooking a couple of meals, and had everything we needed to do so. The bedrooms/bath had exceptional products that were not only functional, but so incredibly comfortable. The mattress was heavenly, and we called the shower a car wash…it was huge and luxurious. I also loved that the owners were obviously eco-conscious…it showed in the personal products and the towels/linens. Jin and Wayne were wonderful hosts….from their initial directions to suggestions on local food/activities. Every question we had was answered quickly and they gave us some wonderful suggestions. (Hint: their suggestion of Primo for dinner was spot on with what my husband and I love in a restaurant.) Maine was a bucket list vacation for this Texas couple, and we’re already planning on another trip. When we do, we definitely know where we will be staying. :-)
