Set on a working farm in the peaceful Essex hamlet of Wimbish, this characterful barn conversion wraps you in warmth the moment you arrive. Outside, open farmland rolls quietly to the horizon. Inside, everything has been chosen with care - and with you in mind. Saffron Walden’s medieval market town is just minutes away, and Cambridge a mere half an hour, but once you’re here, you may find leaving is the last thing you want to do.

Inside: The heart of Piglet Cottage is its open-plan living space - high vaulted ceilings drawing the eye upward, quality fittings throughout, and a wood burner that earns its place on even a mild evening. The sofa is the kind you genuinely sink into. The flat-screen TV is there if you want a lazy night in, though the fire tends to win.

The kitchen is fully equipped for serious cooking - induction hob, oven, coffee machine, and Quooker tap - with generous worktop space.

The Bedroom: Soft, considered, and genuinely restful. The king-size bed is dressed in quality linens, the lighting is warm and unhurried, and robes and slippers are there for the taking. The bathroom - bath with shower over - is clean and well-appointed.

The Garden: Push open the bi-fold doors and the outside becomes yours. At the centre of the private garden, a copper tub sits beneath a pergola, open to the sky and to the sound of the surrounding farmland settling into evening. Fill it, sink in, and let everything go. Few things recalibrate the mind quite like warm water, cold air, and a view of open fields above the steam. Afterwards, pull on your robe and take a seat by the fire pit. Top up your drink. There is genuinely nothing on the agenda.

The Area: Wimbish is quiet in the best possible way - footpaths leading off into open countryside, minimal traffic, maximum sky. Saffron Walden is only a few minutes’ drive, offering independent shops, cafés, a weekly market, and the lovely Bridge End Gardens. Cambridge - with its museums, colleges, and river punting - is under 20 minutes away and well worth a day of your time.
