Check-in was long for having a reservation. Towels were too small. There's not really an indoor pool because it has a leak that hasn't been repaired. The room was clean. Breakfast was good.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE WORTHLESS. GOOD: Hot water and water pressure, clean towels, sheets, and good room sizes. BAD: My wife and I took the time to photograph four different live roaches and we found numerous dead roaches under the refrigerator when we moved it slightly to plug in an extension cord. I am waiting to see if the review will accept photographs. WORTHLESS: I never book anythin without wifi. The wifi was not working in the Annex building where they put us (Room 307) and the Manager said it was an Expedia Room, as if we were delegated to some kind of outer darkness since we booked at a great rate through Expedia. The Annex building hadn't been cleaned in what I could only guess was years. We didn't desire the "Free Breakfast" for concerns that the kitchen was not any more hygenic than the room. I will never stay at a Rodeway Inn again! I should mention that we take one or two cruises a year and travel to remote places on earth but this place is full of misrepresentation and filth.
My wife was getting her shower ready when we called me in so that I could drown this roach and we found three others live at different times, three in the tub and one on the bedroom floor.
The lack of cleaning under the refrigerator showed many bits and pieces and dead roaches.
Underneath the soap tray in the shower had been left filthy and nasty by maids.

When I arrived and went in the lobby, there was no one at the front desk. There was a sign saying "I have stepped away. Please call my cell phone". As I was calling the number, a man came out to the desk looking dishevled, with shaky hands. He spent 10 to 15 minutes trying to log in to the computer, with no luck. He went in the back and came back out with another woman, who tried to help. She kept moaning that she was in pain. That lady left, then he first guy wwnt next door to another b hotel to bring over a former Rodeway employee to help him sign in to the computer. To make a VERY long story short, I found out that they had given away my room (which i had already paid for on Expedia) to someone using my name, reservation number, and account number!! Her must have given him MY paid-for room without checking his ID. Other strangeness ensued, but I'm running out of space here. Worst hotel experience of my life! And I've been to thousands.

We booked on Expedia. That went well. The Rodeway Inn is old. Upon arrival the desk clerk, Teresa was great, however, the facility was terrible. Housekeepping did not clean the rooms. Limited supply of cleaned rooms. When we did get a room, we turned on the heat. OMG!!! IT STUNK. smelled like a wet mangy dead decaying animal. The filter of the HVAC unit needs serious cleaning. We went to the desk for a cleaning product like Lysol nothing available. Another patron happen to have a can of lysol. Helped a little, but after 3-4 minutes the unit shut down. Back down to the desk. Moved to another room. HVAC smelled better, but the room had NO toilet paper. So 4th trip back down to the desk. Teresa was great, breakfast was really good, but the property needs serious updating, clean filters, housekeeping needs to do their joob. I will not stay here again.

Outdoor pool closed for the season. Indoor pool not in service. Only 2 towels for 3 adults. No hot water and shower head didn't work correctly. Ran out of food 45 minutes prior to end of breakfast and wouldn't make more until manager was called. Ran out of toilet paper. No TV remote. Only good thing was the beds were comfortable.

If you’re just looking for a place to sleep, then yes, I wouldn’t pay 3x as much for nearby hotels in McPherson. If you’re looking for clean, updated, amenities, this won’t be the place for you. A few bugs in the bathroom, musty smell in the room, but I didn’t feel unsafe, bed was fine. Unfortunately, I stayed on a weekend where there was a dog show of some sort, so there were dogs barking in other rooms, one through the night.
