Property was clean and felt safe. Staff is very polite and helpful. This place is not fancy, but it’s perfect for a reasonable place to stay. It’s very close to restaurants and the beach. I will stay here again.

What you would expect for a 2 star hotel

What you would expect from a 2 star hotel. The room was in shabby condition, odd sliding door to the bathroom with no sound privacy. Wood floors that felt a little grimy, I would not go barefoot. The balcony door "lock" was a stick cut to fit the door frame. The price of crappy hotels these days is baffling, but what are you gonna do?

Cheap, but you get what you pay for!

Very loud road noise! On PCH .. Harley’s and emergency services late at night. Parking is fine, rooms are older and bare minimum. Free WiFi, vending machines on site and free in room coffee. Needs a pretty substantial update.

This hotel billed itself as Hotel Avenida, but the outside is marked as a Rodeway Inn. The room was good, with the exception of no floor mat, so we couldn't wipe our feet coming in from the rain. Our problem was with the staff - we made our reservation through a third party, but when we checked in, they said we owed more money, and they tried to give us a smoking room - our reservation was specifically for a non-smoking room. When we tried to argue about the bill, they said we could call the third party. It was late and we were tired, so I figured we could deal with it later. When we checked out, the front desk said we weren't charged anything extra, so he had no receipt to give me. Guess what? We were charged the extra amount, and when I called the hotel they said there WAS an extra amount not paid, but no charge was showing on their end. Neither of the staff we interacted with was helpful or courteous, and basically told us they weren't going to do anything, so now I have to dispute it through my bank - what a hassle! It's too bad, because otherwise we liked the hotel.
