This hotel is currently under renovation with limited rooms open, a closed lobby, and construction noise starting at 8 a.m. sharp. While the property feels you rented the whole place, the service quality suffers significantly. The morning front desk showed a clear lack of care and hospitality. Hot breakfast items ran out early, and staff said, “We only prepared for 14 guests—food is gone.” A family with grandparents and a child was left with only packaged pastries, no hot food, and even the coffee ran out. When asked if anything could be done, the answer was simply no—said with a smile. As I was leaving, two staff members were laughing while a grandmother using a walker passed by. That moment said everything. Another night, two kids were swimming on a cold evening and there were no towels at the pool. We gave them ours. To be fair, the night staff was excellent—friendly, attentive, and delivered towels within minutes. The contrast with the morning staff was striking. This property will likely do well financially. The newly renovated rooms are attractive—beachy, well designed, with earth-tone furnishings and sleek wall-mounted TVs. But when hospitality and empathy are missing, none of that matters.

It would be helpful to note that the hotel is undergoing a remodel/renovation. The outlet where the coffee maker and kettle were located was not working. The safe was not ‘working’ until I figured that the batteries inside the safe were loose. The batteries were held together with duct tape. Once I pushed the batteries tightly together, the safe worked but I didn’t want to chance it and the batteries becoming loose, then I would have to get hotel staff to open the safe. So I didn’t use it. There were ants in the coffee /sink area and the bathroom. The room itself was nice, and as expected with balcony and view of the Pacific. But overall, I was a bit disappointed.

Room needed upgrading badly. When I arrived the hotel was being remodeled and there was no information to that effect on Expedia when booked. The hotel also did not reach out to inform us.were told no refund so ended up having to stay. Constant noise all day so no relaxing by the pool. I had to leave the hotel every day for peace &quiet

We had a wonderful stay at Shore Cliff Hotel in Pismo Beach. The room was very clean and offered an amazing ocean view. The staff was courteous, friendly, and always willing to help. The hotel has great amenities and is conveniently located close to the Pismo Pier and all major attractions. The complimentary American breakfast was very good and a great way to start the day. One of our favorite parts of the stay was walking around the property by the sea - perfect for enjoying a beautiful sunrise or sunset. We would definitely stay here again!

The view is incredible without a doubt. The hotel though is not. The property is under renovation which is fine but their own website is misleading in not disclosing that the lobby is nonexistent and the “front desk” is a temporary setup by the back door in the parking lot.

We were hesitant to book as it was currently being remodeled. They are doing major work but we were unaffected. Our room was spotless and the bed was one of the most comfortable we’ve ever slept on. The staff is friendly and helpful (thanks Sonja)! We highly recommend getting a room with a beach view. Can’t wait to return when all the work is done. Perfect spot in Pismo Beach!!

It looks that the place is falling apart, lost of mosquitoes, included breakfast was awful, they charge for parking with the excuse the place is “secure”, they charge also a “resort fee” for a place that you can’t use all the amenities and the room is far from as promised.
