I love this place, but I feel a bit weird writing a review, because after our vacation, I feel like our family has become friends with the host family...
This place wonderful -- but maybe not for everyone!
This place is still evolving. When we went there, it had only been in business for about six months.
If you need all the most modern toys and conveniences, then look elsewhere.
(For example, when we stayed, there was no air conditioning, but this was fine because the owner had designed the houses to have excellent airflow. You really don't need A/C! And at night, you will probably need a light blanket!)
But if you want a true vacation, where afterwards you feel you really have relaxed, decompressed, and recharged, this place is wonderful.
The biggest factor is the host family: wonderful people. Warm, genuine, really lovely.
In particular, Bayahibe is already known to be a safer destination in DR for women, especially solo travelers, but Eco-hotel feels extra safe because of the care and warmth of the host and his family.
Our family really enjoyed this place, and fell in love with their family...
Fantastic!
