The Desoto was pretty in the lobby and immediately outside, especially with the holiday decorations. The staff Were kind. The room view was pretty, the room itself was okay, it could use a little TLC. For the price you don’t expect chipped flooring, tub and grungy bathroom floor grout. We would consider returning.

Room was good, comfy bed, clean, and a great view. Bed linen was a bit rougher than I’m used to but still okay. The hotel staff was friendly. However, I think paying $50 per night for parking is a ridiculous amount to pay! Great walking ability around the town. Surrounded by beautiful buildings and trees!! Plus it was tastefully decorated for Christmas. My main dissatisfaction was the rude bartender at Proof and Provisions, which is located inside the hotel. He had zero customer service skills. I over heard him being rude to another guest and it took about 10 minutes to greet us when there were two bartenders for about 10 guests. When he came over to us, he never actually greeted us, he simply pointed at us & didn’t say anything. (This is a nice hotel, not a club). I asked how long their Pinot Noir had been opened. He replied, “I don’t know, probably about two days ago”. Anyone who drinks red wine knows wine starts to turn if they do not remove the air from the bottle (which they do not at this establishment and even then, the wine is still not that great). I asked if they could open another bottle and he said, “No, they had to pour what they already had opened first.” Why would I spend $15.00 per glass of wine that tastes like vinegar??!! Would they do this with food too? My other issue was they allowed a 2 year old to sit at the bar. After a long time driving, having a nice glass of wine, in a nice establishment should not be this difficult. Needless to say, we left.

It might be helpful to know that valet is the only option. Valet and front desk weren’t at all friendly or informative. It is a beautiful old hotel but for the money I would have stayed elsewhere.

This hotel is gorgeous inside and out. A mixture of history, elegance, and comfort. The service was impeccable everywhere (front desk, dining, and bar). Location is very convenient and within walking distance to the riverside. Highly recommended!
