As you can walk to the Shannon airport from here in five minutes, this is the most convenient place to say if you have an early morning flight. Restaurant has surprisingly excellent food.

They were currently renovating. The first room we checked into smelled like paint. They gave us another room across the hall that smelled less like paint that eventually gave us a headaches. Watch the breakfast host wipe off a table with his hand.

Early flight

Thanks to a certain airline moving our flight forward to a really early check in, we knew we wouldn't make it from Galway to Shannon in time. Hence the Park Inn was our saviour as it was just a five minute walk to the terminal. Check in staff were lovely, room comfortable. Short sleep but it did the job. Would use again if needed.

The first time I stayed in this building was in 1985. Then and now the best aspect of staying in the hotel adjacent to the Shannon Airport is the convenience. I returned my rental car the night I stayed (before I flew out in the morning). The car rental company gave me a lift back to the hotel. In the morning, I just had to roll my suitcase out the door, across the parking lot and to departures. The hotel room was spacious, clean, and had room for all my bits and bobs in the bathroom. Considering it was at an airport, it was quiet. The bed was comfortable. The room was very clean. I searched a bit for plugs for my electronic devices, but managed to plug everything in. The bar had a welcoming atmosphere for dining, and as a solo woman traveler I was able to pick my seating location and was treated in a friendly and professional manner. The cost was much higher than 1985, of course, and probably double what I would've usually paid for a bed and breakfast close by. Considering my car rental had to be returned at 6am, I weighed the cost vs. the advantages, and chose to make the splurge. I still feel it was worth the cost.
