Nestled among tall majestic trees sits this tri-level home in beautiful Shelter Cove ready for Guests to enjoy! This home boasts a unique design including a spiral staircase leading to each of the 3 floors, with gorgeous ocean views, and an easy 9 minute walk to Black Sands Beach. Come and experience "Whale Cove Retreat", a 3 bed, 2.5 bath vacation haven at The Lost Coast you won't forget!

"Whale Cove Retreat" welcomes you as you step into this beautiful 3 story home!
On the First floor, you will find the Family room/ game room adorned with nautical themed decor. Pull up the 2 video game chairs and challenge your guests to video games with the SEGA Genesis game console. And if you need more challenge, step outside to the attached garage where you will find the miniature ping pong table. On this floor you will find the "kids room" with a twin over full size bunk bed, and a full bathroom with tub shower. In addition, there is a leather queen sofa sleeper in this family room.
Venture up to the Second floor and be met with spectacular ocean views ! This floor boasts a comfortable living room space, a half bath, a fully stocked kitchen , with dining that seats your entire group. Wake up in the morning with a nice hot cup of coffee brewed from the Keurig. Step out to the front deck and revel in the beauty as you are surrounded by beautiful nature with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean! In the afternoon, take the family outside onto the deck and BBQ a delicious meal on the easy to use propane grill. Gather together and you may catch glimpses of whale pods swimming in the ocean. After a full meal, maybe take an afternoon nap in the cozy patio lounger and let the sounds of the crashing waves lull you to sleep. In the evening, come inside and snuggle with a book next to the gas fireplace on those chilly nights. Or go outside, turn off all the lights and gaze up at the sky to witness the galaxy of twinkling stars.
Proceed up to the Third floor of the home where you will find the master bedroom with the cozy queen-size bed. The large window allows you to wake up and take in the gorgeous views of the Ocean! There is also a small private den off to the side which houses a twin size bed in the shape of a boat design. This will be a huge hit for the kids or the kid at heart!
This home is situated in a PERFECT location for exploring Shelter Cove, all within walking distance, or quick car ride. From the house, you can grab a few beach chairs and take an easy 9 minute walk to Black Sands Beach. Or if preferred, take a 20 minute leisurely stroll into town where you can get your caffeine buzz at The Fish Tank Expresso Gallery, experience the popular Venezuelan restaurant, meander to the many nature trails, go tidepooling at Mal Coombs Park, or watch golfers hit a hole-in-one at the beautiful ocean front Shelter Cove Golf course. The options are endless!

Other details: The whole house, with all the amenities, are for your use and enjoyment. This home comes with a unique spiral staircase accessing each of the 3 floors. Please note we do not offer baby gates so please plan accordingly if you have toddlers/ children. In the garage, we also offer a bin of outdoor toys including corntoss/bean bag toss game, spike ball, and other sports balls to play on the large park like front yard. Beach chairs provided. There are a variety of family board games located in the living room and game room. We have left 2 sets of golf clubs for Guests to enjoy if they wish to play at Shelter Cove Golf course; an adult set and a junior set. Great for a Parent/ Child golf outing! . Washer/ dryer in garage. Outdoor shower to rinse off by side of house. Strong WiFi in the house
COVID 19 Cleaning practices: We are committed to AIRBNBs five-step enhanced cleaning process that goes beyond basic cleaning to sanitize the entire home.

Please note there are 2 RING cameras on the premises. One is facing the driveway and other to the side yard. These are for safety and security purposes and will not be turned on during Guests stay.

We (my kids, ages 5 through teenagers) loved the property! It was beautiful, as were the views and the beach itself. The check-in process was easy and the owners were helpful and communicative! Highly recommend!!

Unexpected stay

We were forced to find a new spot to stay on one days notice, due to fires a couple hours up North of here. We got so lucky. Never knew about this area and now want to keep it our little secret. Loved everything and wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back and can’t wait to stay in this home again! Really just the best.

Nice coastal house getaway

Very nice small coastal getaway. The kids loved the bunk beds and games available at the house. Very comfortable and great help from owners when needing to change the thermostat.

Perfect Getaway

Loved the place, loved the views. Kat and Alex were excellent hosts. Photos were accurate of the property. Would definitely love to come back. The only critical comment - the only way to access the third bedroom is through the master bedroom - if you have teenagers, just be aware!

Secluded beach getaway

Area is very secluded which is what we wanted to be able to get away for a couple days. Gorgeous views and comfortable outdoor seating to enjoy those views and weather. Kept kids busy with walks around the area, exploring the tide pools and visiting the nearby Black Sand beach. This home had everything we needed for my family. My kids had fun playing on the ping pong table and outside in the yard. This home was fantastic and highly recommend staying here!!

Lovely Home in Lovely Town

Great place to stay for multiple people or even groups. Trees around and a view to the ocean. Located very close to Black Sand Beach and short drive to any shops/restaurants. The house has everything you need for the kitchen and a beautiful deck with plenty of outdoor furniture. Inside there is a bathroom on every floor and the 3 floor set up gives a lot of privacy between visitors. Everything was very clean and ready for use, even the outside furniture, which was nice. Only item to mention is that the neighbors are quite close when you're out on the deck. Definitely would like to stay there again.

Remarkable

The Whale Cove Retreat was a perfect home base for a relaxing and adventurous trip to Shelter Cove. First, Shelter Cove and surrounding towns were beautiful. Your surrounded by the coast, dense forest and redwoods. The home had everything we need and the hosts were proactive in making sure we were informed about logistics. We regularly saw deer grazing in the front yard which was a plus! If you’re headed to Shelter Cove, I highly recommend a stay here.

A Relaxing Retreat and Gateway to the Redwoods

As a family, we were looking to all stay together for a few days off the beaten path. This house in Shelter Cove had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The hosts gave us ample descriptions in advance so that we’d know what to bring. They offered friendly assistance during our stay whenever we had questions. The house was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed exploring “The Lost Coast” and then driving further northeast into the Redwoods. The curvy roads to arrive to Shelter Cove from the South, however, are not for the faint of stomach.We dined at the local restaurants- all of which were delightful. We also cooked in the house and had everything we needed to make a family meal. Thanks to the owners for allowing us to feel at home and have a mini-break away from reality!

Great getaway!

We just loved this place! Check in was super easy and the house was very clean and comfortable. We felt right at home immediately. The deck was good sized so a great place to unwind and enjoy the view of the ocean. Nearby nature trails as well as the Black People beach made outdoors time enjoyable. And I appreciated Alex and Katherine texting to touch base and make sure everything was good for our stay. The only downside is that we eventually had to go home. Great place to stay and hope to come again!

Just What the Doctor Ordered

This Thanksgiving week was exactly what our family needed after our summer plans were canceled due to a medical emergency. We were able to download immediately. We rode bikes down the hill to the beach, explored tide pools and Abalone Point, and even golfed 9 holes in Shelter Cove. The place was labeled and fully stocked. We even used the BBQ to grill turkey legs. The hosts were amazing. I would recommend it highly.

Lovely retreat to the lost coast

We had a great experience staying at this property. Shelter Cove was such a neat place and this home was a comfortable place to come back to after exploring the area. We can't wait to come back and further explore the lost coast!

Lovely home with a gorgeous view

We truly enjoyed the lovely house, which has stunning "sea views"(on its aptly named street) in a very walkable neighborhood teeming with deer and even a friendly fox. The three floors afford a lot of privacy and it is well equipped with kitchen tools, board games, televisions, cozy reading nooks and outdoor spaces. Shelter Cove has amazing black sand beaches, friendly business owners and just the perfect degree of remoteness to make you feel you are "getting away" without being totally isolated. The weather was perfect and we just could not have asked for a better, more relaxing experience. Perhaps most reassuring of all was the owners' level of communication and offers of support. Though none was needed, it was a very nice touch!

Magic place in a magic land

Lost Coast...never has a name been so accurate. Once you get over the mountain to reach Shelter Cove, you'll find yourself in one of the most beautiful locations on planet Earth! Critters abound in this quiet and private retreat. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would love to comeback soon!

What a gem!

Everything at this comfortable home was just as described. The labeled cabinets/drawers made it easy to know where things were. Quiet neighborhood and if you enjoy walking, it's an easy walk (with some hills) to "town". Outside deck area is spacious. Excellent and timely communication with owners. One of the best houses I've rented!

Whale Cove the perfect retreat

What a find - everything about our stay was exceptional. We felt right at home immediately. The owner's instructions were crystal clear and easy to follow, everything clean, functional and fuss-free. The ocean view really is just a peek, but the beautiful Black Sand Beach, and the lighthouse point with the seals conversing on the rocks and birds fishing from the sky were super close for an outing to connect with them. If your goal is to return from all that fresh air, to rest and be sung to sleep by the ocean, this is your spot. My only complaint is, our stay was too short. Thank you Kat and Alex! (Your neighbors are lovely too)

Amazing property

Fabulous home with amazing views. Outdoor patio area is lovely! We have rented many homes before and this definitely deserves 5 stars. This house has everything labeled which makes it so easy to find everything. Excellent idea! Shelter Cove is a very secluded beautiful area, but with minimal dining options, so make sure pack food. If not Shelter Cove does have a nice General Store for some food options. Thanks you Alex and Kat for sharing your home with us!
