FOXWOOD was custom built as a single family home and has had 5 owners. "Foxwood" is carved into stonework next to the front door and the original keystone plaque is next to the kitchen door. We remain the highest volume rental property on Snowshoe Mountain with over 160 5 star ratings. Our goal is to provide your family and friends a memorable vacation experience. Located .75 miles from ski slopes and 1 mile from the top of the mountain within Snowshoe Resort, you are a quick free, on demand shuttle ride from the bottom of our driveway to all Snowshoe has to offer, including Silver Creek Resort, Shavers Lake and Snowshoe Village.
Whether you are coming to ski or snowboard in the winter; mountain bike, hike, play golf and create memories and enjoy the cool air (and central air conditioning) in the summer; or enjoy the amazing autumn foliage our goal is to be a cut above the rest.
The updated home is adorned with artwork of local artists from nearby Marlinton, Lewisburg, the New River Gorge and Hillsboro. Enjoy unparalleled views of Western Territory surrounded by majestic mountains and amazing sunsets from our Great Room, Dining Room, hot tub deck and large front deck with dining and lounging areas.
* DURING WINTER MONTHS - All/4-wheel-drive vehicles are required to navigate our driveway in the snowy winter months. If you do not have all/4 wheel drive, there is a free shuttle and long term guest parking in Snowshoe Village. However, the hike up the driveway with luggage and supplies may be tricky. We plow the driveway, but you will need 4-wheel/all- drive to assure you can reach the top of the driveway.
Foxwood has a gourmet kitchen with a stamped copper ceiling, farmhouse sink, wet bar, granite countertops, gas cooktop and double electric ovens. Our refrigerator will be stocked with bottled water, your choice of soft drinks and adult beverages when you arrive. A waffle maker, 2 coffee makers, blender, plenty of wine glasses, microwave oven and crock pot round out this well equipped kitchen.
There is a gas grill, with a side-burner outside the kitchen. An extra propane tank is located under the bar on the front deck if needed for the grill or fire pit.
The great room with vaulted ceilings adjacent to the kitchen has a wood burning fireplace with a firewood alcove. Additional firewood is in the storage bin near the garage. Enjoy amazing views of Western Territory, Cupp Run, Shay's Revenge and brilliant sunsets.
Enjoy the view from the hot tub located on a separate deck with access from/to the bathroom as well as from the great room. For your safety, shower before and after the use of the hot tub. We use bromine to sanitize the water. Children should always be supervised by an adult. High water temperatures may be harmful to small children and pregnant women. NO GLASS CONTAINERS in the hot tub. Plastic glasses are on the top shelf of the kitchen cabinet. NOTE, hot tub water is changed before you arrive. In the winter months, the water may not be at optimal temperature until the evening of your arrival. We have the hot tub serviced regularly. In the event of an unexpected failure, we will make every effort to make repairs prior to your departure. However, due to our remote location and supply chain challenges, we cannot guarantee the repairs will be done before you depart. If repairs are not made hot tub fee will be reimbursed.
Our Dining Room seats 14 and has a gas fireplace. Original local artwork and sunset views make this a perfect place to gather.
A checker/chess table, and rug that serves as the game board for the large wooden tic tac toe X's and O's are in front of a wall of windows with a panoramic view. A small table that converts to a desk contains Chess pieces in the drawer.
There are 5 bedrooms total. Two downstairs and 3 upstairs. One of the upstairs bedrooms is a walk-thru bunkroom.
Downstairs, bedroom 1 has a king bed, DirecTV, Netflix, and is adjacent to a shared full bath with access to the hot tub.
The second downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, wall of windows with a door to a porch, ceiling fan, and shares downstairs bathroom.
UPSTAIRS: There are three bedrooms. The third, main bedroom is very spacious with vaulted ceilings, a king-size bed, full sized desk, and HDTV with DirecTV and Netflix.
The large shared main bathroom includes a large shower, two sinks and a jetted tub.
The fourth bedroom has a queen bed and is adjacent to a shared bath with shower.
The fifth bedroom/bunk room has a twin over double bunk bed, futon and twin/twin bunk bed, bringing our total occupancy to 14 guests.
A washer and dryer is located upstairs in bedroom 5/bunk room closet.
Our high speed Internet, 100 MB up and 100 MB down, is the fastest available on the mountain. Cell service is limited due to our remote location and close proximity to Green Bank Observatory which has a 30 mile radius "quiet zone". Wi-Fi phone calls, texts, internet access will work with most phones by using internet/Wi/Fi settings. Change your cell phone setting to Wi/Fi prior to your arrival. Free calls anywhere in the contiguous 48 are available on our land line. AT&T has some limited cell service on the mountain.
At Foxwood we provide the following:
