I had difficulty (they did not answer their phone) with Hotels.com. The friendly and understanding Wingate staff resolved my problem with Hotels.com. I am a bit feeble and old and the room provided for me and my wife was outstanding…it had all the necessities for a handicapped person like myself. Normally I would have requested a 1st floor room with handicapped facilities. However I was exhausted from a long drive and the difficulty with Hotel.com…That I just wanted to get to my room.

This was a lst minute booking for us and it's in a great area to get shopping done and eat at restaurants. The room was clean and quiet, however you will notice it is dated. That is enhanced by the smell/odor that I can only discribe as one of those car air freshiner hanging from a rearview mirror. No doubt is is some kind of ZEP like product meant to extend the life of materials that probably need to be replaced like carpeting. Really if they could get rid of that smell the stay would have been much better, but it was okay for one night on the road.

Overall it was a pretty good property. It was definitely better than I expected. I only have 2 complaints. The hard floors were kind of dirty. My feet felt damp and sticky after taking a shower and drying off so wiped them and dirt came off of them along with hair which was probably mine (I hope). I decided to wear my flip flops after that. My second issue: the bed was a bit firmer than we prefer. We weren't exactly hanging out in the hotel since we were here for an event at SGMP so no harm no foul. We would definitely stay here again since it was reasonably priced and close enough to the race track. We didn't get the breakfast but it looked decent enough. Pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs and maybe sausages, plus your normal cereal, fruit, and muffins.

The lady who prepares the buffet for breakfast does a great job it was always delicious and visually appealing. Just for that alone I'll stay again. the hotel is nice in good condition. The staff very nice and attentive to their guest. Its one of the best visit to a hotel for me. the rooms are nice and spacious. I'd recommend this hotel its a 5 all day long.

This felt like slightly below a 3 star hotel. The condition, facilities were definitely above a 2 star but not quite 3 star. Nothing wrong. I loved the happy hour with complimentary beer and wine. The breakfast was great. I appreciated the grits. I would stay again.

The front desk staff and maintenance was very helpful and efficient. The 1st room I was in the AC was not working properly. But i was moved to a new room quickly and efficiently. The rest of my stay was wonderful. Check in was easy and so was checkout.
