Common areas were clean and comfortable. Guest room was dark and frankly a little dingy, though the bed was clean and comfy. Pool area was especially dated and in need of repair. Expected more for $400 pricepoint.

Starting with the good, the staff were great and courteous. The location was good if you are driving, and there was lots of parking and it was free. The noise levels were actually not terrible at night being just beside a highway, and the between room noises were fine as well. The pools were also nice but can get crowded and depending on other guests sometimes made it unusable. The AC worked great as we were there during a scorching heatwave. Now onto the bad, with the built-in restaurants you get occasional wiffs of kitchen cooking oil smells. The smell is not constant, it must be wind related to where the building's intake and exhaust are. For our room, this is based on the Columbia Tower, the room lighting is circa 1970's motels eye searing blue temperature to try and hide the oldness of the room. We were in a "deluxe" room. The shower was weak and the exhaust fan was broken. Wallpaper peeling, stains in the old carpet. You can tell the place has been cleaned, including the bed linen, but the fact is they are OLD. You can smell the bed linen is clean but there are stains and fabric pilling indicating age. It's been a long time since I have been to a hotel with no built-in USB's. Not only did they not have built-in USB's outlets, but there were few power outlets of any sort. The wifi also didn't work which was an extra punch to the gut.

I stayed in the suite and was not impressed with the value for money. As soon as i walked in there was a wasp chilling on the bed, a dirty wash cloth left on the side and the drying robe was broken. The cups were not all there and the cutlery that was there was not cleaned thoroughly.

While there was no issue with the room, house keeping staff need to abide by a scent free policy. For those sensitive to strong odors, walking into a room with the lingering smell of perfume is unpleasant. The room needed to be aired out for 30 + minutes.

Two out of three towers have received renovations. We stayed in the tower that had zero renovations, yet we still paid the same price as others. The room was dingy; the carpet was disgraceful with cigarette burns. The bathroom was disappointing, not to mention the toilet not even being attached to the floor. Overall not a pleasurable experience and not what we have come to expect from Sandman. We were offered a 30% discount on one of our nights which is was something I suppose. Spend your money elsewhere, folks.

The room needs some.Tlc. Headboard material was cracking in the material cover. Ceiling mouldings need to be caulked. These are nothing serious, and would not stop.us from future stays. We really love the.pool, outside. Recommend more help at front desk during check in times. Also.too bad coffee bar was not open longer hours, at least until 1030 or 11am
