The flagship of Casa dell’Arco is the breathtaking view over the Lake Como. Casa dell’Arco is located in the heart of Varenna, a true urban example of the old Italian villages. Except the main street crossing the village, all others are pedestrian stairs ways (contrada) that bring you down to the lake, ideal for children. The apartment is on top of the building, on two floors and outside the living room are two balconies. The interiors are stylish and modern and the apartment has been completely restored in early 2010. The lake is 20 meters far and in 5’ of pleasant walk along the lake you reach the ferry dock. The train station is only 10' far. Close to the apartment are : pharmacy, grocery, butcher, bank, restaurants and bars. Casa dell’Arco is the ideal location to live the unique atmosphere of Varenna that will make your holiday unforgettable.

Better off in a hotel

In general, the apartment was fine, however many issues added up to make this stay bad.First, there were only sheets for one bed despite it being a 3br apartment. I had the ask the host 4 times for extra linens, which he provided on the last day of our stay. Also, the listing advertises 4 twin beds, there were only 3.Another odd moment happened when a caretaker had to get into the apartment to fix a clogged sink. I’m thankful the host was able fix the issue on short notice. However, when his assistant apparently arrived at the apartment the host called me and sent me multiple messages asked where I was and saying the assistant could not get in. First, the owner never said I needed to be at the apartment to meet the assistant. Second, the key was in the lockbox the entire time and shouldn’t an assistant have a key anyway? It was a strange interaction. More issues:Hot water in the shower only lasts a few minutesNo curtains/shutters on the main bedroom windowYou must have a key to get out of the building’s main door, this seems like a fire hazardStains on the pillows and mattressesThe pillows are very thin, not enough provided The towels felt old and cheap

Beautiful view and clean apartment

The apartment is very nice and spacious. The rooms that are joined with the single beds is a bit small. Best really for children rather than adults. The room in the back is incredibly small but we made it work for our two teenagers. The front room with the window to the lake is amazing. It would have been nice to have had somewhere to hang clothes in this room, the only place to hang clothes was in the "middle bedroom". Common areas is very spacious and the balconies were perfect. Highly recommended,

Gorgeous view and great area!

If you’re staying in Varenna it’s hard to imagine a more beautiful place. Easy access from the train or ferry, incredible views from your private balcony, and plenty of space. Would absolutely stay again!

nice apartment

the apartment is very nice, the view from the main bedroom and balconies from living/dining room is amazing. the pictures are mostly accurate, but keep in mind it’s on the top floor so you have to climb 3 flights of stairs to get into the apartment then another flight after you get in to reach the bathroom and bedrooms.. two of the bedrooms are conjoined together and faces the street so it’s a bit noisy.

Beautiful views in a great location

It was our first time at Lake Como. The lake is beautiful, and Varenna was our favorite village on the lake. This property has some great views over the lake. The apartment was clean and in good condition. There are beds to sleep 6, but the third bedroom is only accessible through the second bedroom. There is also not much of a living area. But we spent most of our time outside in awe of the lake and doing some hiking in the area (the hike up to the castle and paying a small fee to get in is worth it for the views). We ate at Cafe Varenna, La Vista, and Bar Il Molo. All of them were fantastic. We had a small issue with the keys at check in, but they were available for communication and did what they could to help resolve.

Perfect stay in beautiful Varenna!

Our family recently visited (2 adults + 3 Adult kids) and had the greatest time! The house was beautiful and looks exactly as described. We saw an amazing sunset from the balcony and it is the perfect location to walk down to the waterfront. One thing to note is if we had realized the amount of steps from the train station we probably would have taken a taxi but everyone (including 60 year olds) made it and the steps to the top floor apartment are totally worth the views!

Fabulous apartment

Modern, light spacious apartment with views to die for. Owner communicated well and promptly fixed our lights. Also let us have a late check out. Perfect location near main square and a few steps from the lake. Definitely going back!

Great location in Varenna

My husband and I were married in Varenna 7 years ago. We’ve been back 5 times and always stayed in the same hotel. This time we took some friends and decided to book this VRBO. I thought the single bathroom might be our biggest challenge but it was fine. I will, however begin this review with the ONLY negative so that it is helpful to anyone with cardiac issues....this apartment is on the top floor (4 flights of stairs) and there are no elevators Once you get into the apartment, you have to climb another set of stairs to the bedrooms. One of the people traveling with us had difficulty that almost caused us to change locations but she made it up slowly each time. Ironically, The BEST thing about the place is that it’s on the top floor.. We would sit out on the balcony and watch the sun go down while listening to all the conversation and music of Varenna. It’s like you see in the movies. Luciana was very accessible and helpful. We love Varenna❤️

This was wonderful little gem on the water in Varenna. Spectacular views. Very clean and modern . Wish we stayed longer. The only draw back for me personally was the fact that there is no air conditioning . Fans were provided however I didn’t find them adequate for comfortable sleeping . Everything else was top notch!

We had an amazing time in Varenna and the apartment was perfect. We were close to great restaurants and there is a little shop very close for all of the basics. The views and balconies were our favorite at this property... incredible!

Perfect location, wonderfully relaxing stay

We were thrilled with our visit and only wish we'd booked a longer stay. Varenna is a beautiful little village with delicious food, historic castle remains, and fantastic hiking opportunities. The apartment was perfect with plenty of space for our family of 5 (all 3 children are young adults now). We had room to play games and relax and plenty of sleeping space. Our room had a divine view of the lake and mountains, which we greatly enjoyed morning and night. In the evenings, we could open the windows and catch a jazz band that was playing in the square and we awoke each morning to the birds singing and the old church bell in the square. Practical matters: We appreciated the hairdryer, the dishwasher, the excellent bathroom and the fans. My kids note that the wifi worked great downstairs, but was weak upstairs. There's no elevator, which we didn't mind, but since you'll need to walk up a few flights of stairs, it may not be right for everyone. Also you should buy groceries before you arrive, because although there's a little bodega across the alley, its offerings are very limited (and cash only) and the closest supermarket is in the next town. A great variety of tasty restaurants within walking distance though, so you can always eat out. We drove from Switzerland, and found free parking nearby (we left the car parked there for our whole stay). Recommend walking to the Fiummelatte (one of the world's shortest rivers), the Baluardo, and the castle. The gardens were also quite lovely in June. Great jumping off point for taking the ferry to Bellagio or other nearby towns.
