The staff was very rude, upon entering to check-in. I forgot my card at home and had to go back to my Residence at Union market to go to Chase Bank, which has an outside ATM and the lady at the counter told me that all the banks were closed. I told her I would be right back so I went home went to the bank and then I returned and she said oh you’re back and I said yes my bank is always open. I’m not sure about yours, but mine is The following night and asked could I buy a bottle of champagne and the guy said you could do it later on the day this is the African man I said OK what time he said at seven he had a rude attitude and nasty tone in his voice. It was only on my last day that a Spanish lady. She was quite loud over the phone, but I called from my room and asked to extend for late check out. She helped me sign up to become a member member and we did late check out, that was the only positive moment between staff, This hotel is lovely though the location the amenities everything is pretty good. I will stay here again. The staff needs serious work and etiquette classes immediately to be honest.

The Hyatt Georgetown is a gem, and its brilliance shines brightest through its people. Our recent stay, originally a consolation prize after Hurricane Erin washed out our beach vacation, turned into a beautiful DC getaway, and it was all thanks to one person: Onamica at the front desk. From the moment we arrived, we were met not with the routine transactional politeness you expect, but with a genuine warmth and an infectious, beautiful smile. Our beach plans had been ruined, and we were feeling deflated. We wanted to extend our stay to make the most of our time in DC, but the hotel was completely booked. It felt like another disappointment. But Onamica didn't just tell us no. She saw our situation and immediately went above and beyond. She didn't just check the computer; she worked tirelessly to find a solution. She navigated the complex bookings and, through her kindness and sheer determination, found a way to let us stay in the exact same room. This was more than just a logistical triumph; it was a compassionate act that saved our vacation. Because of her, we didn't have to pack up, move rooms, or interrupt our fun. We could just relax and enjoy our time in the city. In an industry where service is a commodity, Onamica's actions stood out as a testament to true hospitality. I recently stayed at the Hyatt Place Washington DC/Georgetown/West End and overall, the experience was very good. The staff was friendly, check-in was smooth, breakfast was delicious, and the hotel location made it easy to get around the city. The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped, which made our stay pleasant. However, I did have a couple of disappointments. When we arrived, there was a dirty blue towel hanging on the sofa in the room, which made me question the thoroughness of the cleaning. Additionally, I had informed the hotel in advance that we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday and was told she would receive a special treat, but unfortunately, that never happened. While these details took away from what could have been an exceptional stay, the hotel still provided a comfortable and convenient experience. With a little more attention to detail, it could have been perfect.

There are sooooo many better options in DC; we are actually checking out a day early to stay our last night in a different hotel. The check in process was so slow, the front desk staff is unhelpful (it took 10 minutes to purchase a water and a bottled coffee), the room doesn’t get below 73 degrees no matter what the thermostat is set on, wall light sconces are hanging off the wall, the water pressure is mediocre at best, and the location overall isn’t great (which is my mistake for booking). Spend a LITTLE extra and go somewhere that’s worth it. Ended up staying at the Hilton near the Wharf and it was SO much better! The Hyatt needs a complete maintenance and staff renovation. Love that the front desk lady laughed and said “sorry you don’t like us” when I checked out a day early.
