Newly renovated, Downtown Abbey, is located on a quiet street surrounded by lush gardens offering privacy in the heart of the city and within walking distance to everything.
Stay with us and you'll enjoy: Easy self check-in & generous check-in (12 pm) & check-out (2pm). FREE parking on property for 2 cars & a Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charging Station.

Sleep in comfort on our King and Queen USA made hybrid mattresses with lux linens, blankets & quilts. We also provide plush towels, shampoo, conditioner, hand & body soap. Washer/Dryer, hair dryer, curling iron, iron & ironing board.
We offer a fully equipped kitchen for preparing family meals and installed a REVERSE OSMOSIS (RO) water filtration system for chemical free drinking water & ice. There are several coffee shops within 2 blocks and our Keurig coffee pot with organic pods are furnished so you can also enjoy a cup of coffee in our beautiful gardens.

In addition to Central Heat/AC, all rooms have ceiling fans, window blinds & Smart TV's (65"/50"/32"), Nest speakers & digital antenna; no cable tv. Our private home is on one level; no stairs.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: The Abbey, once home for clergy of the neighboring church, is generally a quiet neighborhood. We provide Yoga sleep sound machines (made here in Wilmington) but should you have noise sensitivities, please prepare accordingly and bring noise cancelling air buds or consider a rental outside of the central business district. Wilmington restricts excessive noise after12 midnight Friday & Saturday and after 11 pm Sunday > Thursday. We are not responsible nor offer refunds for city sounds.

We come to Wilmington a lot for personal and business. We’ve stayed in numerous VRBOs in Downtown Wilmington and along Carolina Beach and this is by far our most favorite location. The layout and attention to detail is perfect. It’s friendly and inviting. The parking is right behind the house, which means it’s off street and that’s very unique for downtown. Now it’s a bit interesting to find the way in via the Alley but once you find it once it’s easy from there and there’s 2 parking spots at that. It’s a perfect location for walking all over downtown from Live Oak Pavilion to boat tours to great seafood or amazing German food! There are several coffee shops in walking as well. Now look, it’s downtown in a college town - so from 10-2am you hear undertones of club music but not enough to disturb you. As it gets closer to 2 am you have the silly drivers who like to show off their lack of driving skills and you’ll never be happier your car is in the back and your house is set back off the road and has a stone wall out front. Doesn’t last long. In our group there was 4 of us and only 2 heard it the others slept right through. One other very cool thing is the house manual takes you through the house and church history which is really interesting. The bedding and towels were awesome and the shower was great! Really good work on the house! A great weekend in the house!

Amazing home in historic Wilmington

We travelled to Wilmington to meet some visiting friends from New York state and this little gem of a house made the weekend trip unbelievable. The house was in an great location with walking access to the river front, multiple breweries and restaurants. We were able to park the cars and walk everywhere we wanted to go. The house had all of the amenities needed for the weekend. The owner provided details on everything including locating the parking which was down an alley. She was responsive to questions and checked in occasionally just to make sure everything we needed was there. I will be returning to Wilmington and staying at this home again in the future, hopefully in a cooler part of the year. ;-)

We had the best time in Wilmington! We were there for a wedding and the house was centrally located to everything. We walked to the welcome party and wedding venue. There are shops and restaurants nearby and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the town. The home is immaculate and perfect for 2 couples. It's centrally located but very private with serene landscaping where we enjoyed our morning coffee each day. The check-in and check-out processes were incredibly easy as well. I highly recommend staying in this home and will definitely be back when we are in Wilmington again.

The home is beautifully appointed, decor is well beyond any expectations, tastefully updated with beautiful lighting, flooring and cabinets …many extra touches, including a bottle of wine and sparking water!The owner was so friendly and easy to communicate with. She also provided detailed info on every appliance and sound system.The location was literally walking distance to everything we wanted to do on the trip including “best restaurant” next door!We will look forward to our return!!

Absolutely Perfect

This is the only place we will stay when returning to Wilmington. Very clean and comfortable for myself, my wife and our disabled daughter. Short walk to a very nice extended Memorial Day weekend. Will book this again.

Second Time Around

This was our 2nd time staying at Downtown Abby. Love the location as its literally walking distance to all of Historic Downtown Wilmington's bars, restaurants and shops. The house is exceptionally clean and equipped with everything you could need and more! We were in Wilmington for Thanksgiving with family and I cooked a couple of sides to bring to our dinner as the kitchen is complete with everything I needed. Our host Jo Ann communicates all the way through the reservation process, upon check in and after. The only thing I would say is you might hear bit of noise coming from some of the bars on a given weekend night that could keep you up late but that is what is expected when renting a house downtown!

This place is a gem right in the heart of Wilmington. Easy walk to coffee shops, restaurants/bars and the Riverwalk! Beautiful streets and architecture at every turn. Completely updated property made for a comfortable stay for four.

Heart of Downtown

If you are looking for a home to rent in the heart of downtown Wilmington, look no further. No need for a car as you can walk everywhere. We took in great dining, shopping and markets!! The house is well equipped, clean and very comfortable with everything you could need for a great stay. JoAnn, our host, kept us well informed from the start of our vacation with things to do and see along with detailed information on the home itself. We will be coming back!!

This may be the best VRBO rental experience ever. The location is great. Everything in downtown Wilmington within walking distance. A family member is disabled and walks with a cane; there were no issues getting around this property. Great attention to detail; we particularly appreciated the household items provided were all for people with skin sensitivities- Thank you; that is not typical. We plan to go back again.

Fabulous little Gem

We enjoyed our stay at Downtown Abbey so much. The host, Jo Ann, was so communicative and responsive to any questions we had before and during our trip. The location was absolutely perfect! We walked to everything we did downtown and dove over to the beach. Just a perfect getaway!

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit at Downton Abbey and Wilmington. The house is very neat, clean, modern yet comfortable. And the host was very accommodating and helpful. We came for just a getaway.
