The NEST-an upscale beach cottage in Holiday Beach Conservation Area

Recently renovated to provide an upscale and memorable experience with the outdoor deck getting its makeover in May 2025. Our cottage is exquisitely designed for couples, girlfriend weekends or families. This property is the only cottage within the Conservation Area, with no adjacent lodgings as well as direct access to a wide sandy (shared) park beach. The modern design is optimal for two adults and up to four children, or 5-6 adults, and has a beautiful outdoor living space (May 2025) with gas barbecue, covered (May 2025) eating area, conversation area and nearby fire pit. The interior includes modern conveniences such as a smart television and a full-size gas range and fridge. Luxurious bedding is provided for adults and fun kid-friendly bedding is available for our younger guests. Girlfriend groups will appreciate the Tommy Bahama all-cotton bedding and spa towels. We only use cotton bedding for adult bedding setups. Beach towels are provided at one per guest.

The cottage now includes pantry items such as spices, oil and vinegars, coffee (and bean grinder), tea, pancake mix and syrup. We do stock the fridge with ketchup and mustard. These items are provided for convenience and are not refreshed until supply is exhausted. Use to your own comfort level, property host accepts no product liability.

Located in the heart of a mature Carolinian forest, this waterfront cottage at Holiday Beach Conservation Area is steps away from Lake Erie's sandy beach, with breathtaking views. Holiday Beach is globally recognized as an important bird area. Other park amenities include walking trails, boardwalks, a fishing pond, a 40 foot viewing tower overlooking the Big Creek wetland and large picnic areas. The park is conveniently located close to splash pads, mini golf, wineries, historic sites and many restaurants.

Refer to the cancellation policy as well as House Rules for more information regarding bookings. As this property is owned by a government agency, it must have strict guidelines regarding damages, unauthorized late departures and violations of the rental agreement. A $300 deposit is payable directly to the property host, that is refundable within 48 hours of departure, pending property inspection/condition and confirmation of adherence to the rental agreement. Please do not book if you cannot abide by the house rules and the terms of the agreement.

Our house rules: primary renter must be 25 or older, no smoking, no parties and no pets. Please see Policies section for more house rules and rental agreement.

Small events may be approved and additional fees apply. Early and late check outs might be accommodated, for an additional fee, depending on park staff availability.
During your stay at this cottage, you'll be close to Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery. A water park and dry cleaning service are available. Enjoy your stay with amenities like a kitchen and a patio in the cottage.

Our 3rd year coming here and again not disappointed. We absolutely love the peacefulness and seclusion that this cottage affords. Lots of different wildlife to see while enjoying our morning coffees - rabbits, chipmunks, fox, toads, lots of birds and butterflies. The sun shelters on the deck enabled us to have all of our meals outdoors. We hope to come back again!

Outside space was beautiful but noisy on the long weekend and "private" meant people still accessed the driveway with a 'no entry' sign or walked across the property line with dogs, etc. to access the cottages next door. Wee paid a lot for 'lake front property with beach front access' and the lake had a warning due to high levels of bacteria and we couldn't enjoy the beach. Always it's a gamble with little kids when you book, but I'd suggest checking the water reports before confirming your stay. Also, the write up says 'up-scale' beach cottage but everyone's standards are different. Overall, we made the most out of it and enjoyed the fire pit, comfy deck chairs, and surroundings.

Home away from home

This cottage was beautiful and set up with everything one would need. The inside is comfortable and clean. The outside deck is perfect - it’s large and partly covered so you can sit there all day plus there’s a huge yard which is peaceful and private. Communication was great and check-in was easy. The water wasn’t swimmable the days we were there due to bacteria levels and seaweed which was disappointing and it would be nice to have a better view of the water but it was nice to hear the waves at night.

Great family spot!

Fantastic rental that is fully stocked with many things that you need. We brought our own wood, dishwasher detergent, spices, etc but the place was equipped with all these things. Our kids had a great time as there’s a big grassy area to play, lots of kid friendly trails and the beach!We did restart the internet a couple times, but it didn’t really seem to work, very spotty. I’m sure we could have messaged someone, but it wasn’t a priority. Just wanted to say that in case you are planning to work from the cottage, you may struggle with the wifi.We would highly recommend this with your family!

Hawk-Watching Weekend

We rented the cottage in order to visit the Hawk Tower in the Essex Cty Conservation Area. It was the perfect convenient location and a cozy place to relax after a day spent outdoors. We'd recommend it to anyone looking for a special way to enjoy the comforts of home in a beautiful natural setting. It was our third visit and we look forward to coming back again.

I would highly recommend this property. There was plenty of room for our family of 4, the amenities were great for our stay, the property had both beach access and access to trails and different places to explore outside. Time went by too quickly

This was our second time at the cottage and we are already planning for next year. We especially love how secluded and private the area is. And every morning being able to have coffee while watching bunnies and squirrels and listening to the host of songbirds is so very peaceful and relaxing. Wonderful stay!

This is a gem - I hesitate to review it because I wish it could remain a hidden gem but it is owned by a conservation authority so they deserve all the rental income they can get. Great stay

Fabulous, clean location with the glorious park to yourself in evenings! The only drawback is the very noisy air-conditioning/furnace system and water tank. But I would return for a third stay.
