Welcome to Casa de La Paz, a 3-Bedroom, 3.5-Bath Mountain Villa in Atenas, our slice of paradise nestled in the beautiful gated community of Roca Verde. We fell in love with the mature landscaping, centered around a majestic Guanacaste tree and surrounded by coconut, palm, lemon, and papaya trees, to name just a few. Inspired by this setting, we thoughtfully renovated and expanded the home to fully embrace Atenas’ perfect climate, breathtaking mountain views, and stunning sunsets over San José and the Central Valley.

This is truly a nature lover’s retreat. Enjoy your meals outdoors from sunrise to sunset across several inviting patio areas — from a spacious rancho, to a shaded terrace beneath the Guanacaste tree, and a romantic ranchito near the mountain’s edge. You’ll be surrounded by birdsong, lush greenery, and, during the rainy season, a magical cloud-forest atmosphere. In the dry season, evenings offer spectacular views of the sparkling city lights below.

The home blends character and modern comfort: approximately 25% of the original structure has been preserved, including a second-floor bedroom with a walk-out balcony, while 75% is newly built. Upgrades include solar energy, purified water, ample water reserves, reliable high-speed WiFi, and brand-new energy-efficient appliances. Casa de La Paz is a true labor of love, and we continue to add thoughtful touches to enhance every stay.

Our trusted, multilingual property managers (English, Dutch, Spanish) will personally welcome you and remain available throughout your stay to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience.

Tours throughout Costa Rica, including Poás and Arenal volcanoes, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, organic coffee farms, private catamaran sailing, and fully customized excursions. Adventure activities such as ziplining, rafting, ATV tours, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, and more: grocery delivery, catering, private chef services, wellness treatments, and other concierge services.

Air Conditioning
Air conditioning is available in all three bedrooms for your comfort. As many guests prefer to enjoy the natural mountain breezes and do not require air conditioning, its use is optional and charged separately based on consumption.

1 unit: $10 per night
2–3 units: $20 per night

This approach allows us to keep the base rental rate lower and fair for guests who choose not to use air conditioning.

For stays longer than 10 days, weekly cleaning is included. Our housekeeper, Helen, is excellent.

The standard rate is based on two guests, allowing us to offer a competitive price for couples. Additional guests are very welcome for $15 per person, per night.

We had a lovely stay. The house had enough space for our family, with 6 guests. The property was well-kept and had all the amenities. We even had a cool special guest that would visit each day - the iguana perched on the statue in the backyard. The bird viewing was great. Sandra and Klaas are always easy to reach if anything comes up! We will definitely be back.

Top in Every Way!!Mountain, location, villa and property managers. The view is looking over San Jose valley and at night is really cool. The housing development is very close to Atenas, even walking distance if you're really fit. The home is an open layout with spacious rooms, the outside grounds are well maintained, and the terrace/pool/hot tub are great too. The property managers, Sandra and Klaas, were extremely responsive with everything we asked. We could not ask for better hosts.

The perfect combination

Casa de la Paz is a wonderful villa and (very private) property, exactly as pictured. My husband and I stayed for two weeks and enjoyed every minute of it. Given there were just two of us, we used only the main floor, but the ensuite bedrooms on the second floor make the house ideally suited to a family or two couples. The kitchen is well equipped and 5G wifi very fast. We were initially a bit skeptical that we would be comfortable without air conditioning, but any concern was quickly dispelled. The regular breeze and house design that allows for effective air flow created no need for air conditioning. The full glass wall of the kitchen, dining and living rooms – all facing the pool – really make the house. While all the doors and windows are screened, a pleasant surprise was the absence of mosquitoes or other biting bugs. The pool is a good size and the jacuzzi is lovely at the end of the day The property has been beautifully landscaped, and is regularly visited by a variety of birds, including a nesting pair of doves.We really valued the privacy of the property and at the same time the proximity to Atenas. In our other stays along the coast in Costa Rica, the villas were often located quite far from amenities and the road up was often an adventure in itself. We welcomed the easy, paved road to la Paz. Finally, the hosts Sandra and Klass are a delight, very responsive and helpful with any detail. Casa de la Paz if a full five star.

Amazing Views - Amazing Culture

Our stay in Atenas was exceptional. We felt right at home and were well taken care of. This was our first time in Costa Rica and Sandra and Klaas made it effortless. They helped us plan excursions, taught us so much about the local culture and made wonderful recommendations. Each member of our family had a different "favorite" part of the trip - but we all agree that at the end of every fun filled - or relaxing day, we loved spending time together in the beautiful outdoor area. Personally - I enjoyed the sunrise most, sipping a cup of amazing local coffee. Thank you, Sandra, and Klaas for your hospitality.

Beautiful property

Beautiful, well maintained property in great location with magnificent view. Property managers, Klaus and Sondra were really great, taking us on tours each day and taking care of us very well. Picked us up from our cruise ship and took us to the airport at 5 am for our departure.

Three time’s a charm

Our third stay in charming Atenas. Each stay was arranged through Bunkitours and worth every penny. Sandra, Klaas and Marco can always be depended on the make our stay special. This house was new to us, and we loved the open air living this lovely home provided. We relished the beautiful landscaping as we spent evenings around the pool and hot tub. Great memories. Beautiful house

The house, property, pool and hot tub are beautiful!! It is in a gated neighborhood and close drive to town. Property managers are very friendly and respond quickly to any questions we had. It is a tropical environment and we had many insects and creatures inside and outside the home. Only suggestions that I have is to have the house sprayed for bugs prior to each renter and maybe a hair dryer available. I would definitely stay at this property again.
