We stayed at a Sugar Mountain condo for three nights this past weekend, and unfortunately the experience did not meet expectations.Upon arrival, the unit was not in acceptable condition. There was debris on the floors, several basic necessities were missing (hand soap, garbage bags, foil), and the kitchen lacked essential cooking items. Many of the available items were broken or extremely outdated. There were also maintenance issues, including missing light fixture panels, broken light bulbs, and a kitchen chair on the verge of breaking.The fireplace was not working when we arrived. Maintenance stopped by and briefly got it running, but the repair was rushed and unreliable. We were told management would follow up because a new part was needed, but no one ever contacted us. The rental advertises a cozy winter fireplace, yet it wasn’t properly functioning—especially concerning given the threat of an ice storm and potential power outages.Communication with the rental agency was another major issue. Messages were not answered in a timely manner, and several questions went unanswered. We requested a late checkout due to icy road conditions and were told someone would call us back, but no one ever did. Even if the request couldn’t be accommodated, it deserved a response.Overall, this experience made it clear that guest comfort is not a priority. Issues were handled at a bare-minimum level, seemingly just enough to move on. I will not be using this rental agency again.
