Holiday from hell-Bed bugs and no air con
The place looked nice enough on entering but we discovered the following:
1. There was no air conditioning except one bedroom on the top floor and the air con in the living area didn’t work. We discovered later that the filter had not been serviced and was full of dust. The owner refused to get a technician even after Christmas. We had to do a 1 hour round trip on Christmas Day to collect 2 small (and totally ineffective) fans from her place. Then on Boxing Day she dropped off 3 new cheap and noisy fans after we complained to Stayz/VRBO which we had to assemble ourselves. Shocking!
2. There were bed bugs in one of the bedrooms which we discovered on the first night and luckily we took pictures because the owner tried to accuse us of introducing the bugs in the house!We had to sleep on air beds (which we luckily had as we had bought as Christmas presents) the whole week as one bedroom was unusable.
The house was so hot. There were no fans in the lower floor and the play area could hardly be used as it was so hot and stuffy.
The holiday was a nightmare and very, very disturbing for us especially for my aged and frail parents whom we couldn’t move to another place.
Please note, just to enter the house to the living areas,there are 16 stairs and another 3 just for the bathroom so be mindful if there are issues with elderly people climbing stairs.The place is completely unsuitable for summer living in my opinion.
