A war welcome

I choose this hotel when I travel to Newport as the restaurant staff are very friendly and it’s not too much trouble to ask for my eggs to be scrambled instead of what is on offer usually poached or fried. The reception staff were friendly and I always have a good nights sleep as the insulation between the rooms is good so I do not hear any tv’s next door. The only improvement I would is to have a warm welcome in the room with complimentary bottled water.

The hotel was well situated within walking distance of the railway station. They allowed a bag drop, pre check in with staff responding to an email very quickly. The check in process was very efficient. The room, with twin beds, was spotless and with a great view over Newport from the 10th floor. A great place to stay and I would be happy to recommend to others and return myself in the future

Had a great stay here in their junior suite, beds were really comfortable everything was clean and the bathroom was really nice. We also enjoyed the rooftop bar.

Friendly Staff, room showing it's age!

Regular stayer at Mecure Newport, Check in and staff always friendly. Room on this trip was starting to show its age, fittings starting to show wear, walls with lots of grubby marks on the walls. Room had a strange smell when I first entered the room but I quickly became nose blind to it. Drainage in the bathroom sink was slow so you had to turn the tap off when brushing your teeth so it didn't overflow. I like staying at this hotel, it suits my needs for business perfectly, but it does average out at over 100 pounds a night, this puts it at a price point of high end hotels such as Celtic Manor which is just down the road. If the condition of the rooms deteriorates it will make the hotel very expensive for what it is. When the hotel was new it could command a premium but maybe not so much now, this is a shame as the food and staff are great. Other rooms I have stayed in previously were decent so maybe a one off.

Convenient location for a favourable stay!

The heating in the room was unbearable as it would not go down below 19 degrees. Made it hard to sleep at night. No slippers in the room which available even on request (slippers were mentioned to be offered in the room chosen). The food at the restuarant in the hotel was overpriced and not as great for the price it sold at. The housekeeping was great. Cleaned or tidied rooms when required and needed almost daily as indicated. Bed felt a bit small for the room requested.

Bogdan in the restaurant was excellent, superb service, the dinner we had was good but not great. Breakfast wasn’t good, bacon dry, eggs solid and service wasn’t good. Room was hot and when turned down to 19 degrees which was as low as it goes still too hot.

Nice new hotel in town centre

Lovely new hotel in the city centre. Ideal location if visiting Rodney Parade football stadium which is a short walk away. Well furnished rooms.
