Gnome Hill Cottage - A Rustic Pet-Friendly Cottage In The Woods

512' square shed converted to very cozy mountain bunkhouse style cottage with an open floorplan except for the bathroom. There's a large screened porch (32' x 8'), and a smaller deck with charcoal grill and fire pit. Still a work in progress. Secluded in the woods but very close to several state parks with fishing, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, scenic overlooks, canoeing & kayaking, and hiking areas. Very woodsy and peaceful.

Be sure to bring your groceries with you. There is a Dollar General about 3 miles away with some food items, and a very nice Ingle's about 12 miles north on Hwy. 11.

If you bring a pet it is required that you text me a picture of your baby(ies) inside the cottage. There is a mandatory $20 pet fee, and an additional $20 will be charged to your account if any "accidents" are left inside, or on the porch and deck. Yes, people have done that.

Please note - This is pet-friendly cottage, and most of our guests bring their dogs to visit. We diligently clean between each guest and try to make sure all surfaces are clean of pet hair. Sometimes, we may fall short. If any kind of pet hair is a problem for you and not to your liking, this may not be the cottage for you.

There is no mandatory cleaning fee, but guests are encouraged to leave a tip for the cleaning staff, especially if you stay multiple nights, or are extra messy.

Note: The ceilings in the living areas are low and under the lofts in the shed. If you're tall, it may feel a little cramped.

Cosmetic updates are being done so there is a bit of clutter at one end of the screened porch. All of the amenities are good, though. Thank you for your understanding.

DO NOT let your pets run loose off of the porches or runs. If pet messes anywhere in the cottage are not cleaned, an extra $20 fee will be charged.
For weekend the booking must include 2 nights. Example : either Friday and Saturday ; or Saturday and Sunday.
Park to one side of the driveway or in a pull-off. Keep noise to a minimum and respect other tenants. Use grill and fire pit safely.

THE CUTEST cabin! Perfect for a couples getaway or with a friend. The property manager was great at communicating. She lives on the property, but you aren’t really on top of each other. It’s super private with lots of woods around. The place was clean, everything worked, and it appeared to be well maintained on the inside. The nonstick cookware really sold me! Y’all know how some of these VRBOs got the worst cookware. Ha! Anyways, my pups had a great time as well. It’s very secluded and the grocery store is about 20 mins away. Super happy with our stay & experience.

Small quiet cabin in the woods. Owner communication was excellent. There were no issues. We would have liked a real oven, but there was a toaster oven and a countertop induction cooktop that worked just fine.

Great stay at our mountain cottage

Plenty of space for my wife and me and our dog. Communication with our host (Charlotte) was excellent. After days spent hiking and otherwise exploring the surrounding area - it was also nice to unwind on the screened in back porch. We both found the bed to be very comfortable as well.

cozy and comfortable

We spent three days at the cabin. The bed was comfortable, Charlotte had some dog dishes ready for my dog (and I forgot her dishes). We had everything we needed. It took me a few minutes to figure out the induction stove. You have to put the pan or pot on the burner before you choose the temperature, but after that it was smooth sailing! I loved the back porch and the rockers. There was a tower fan and a ceramic heater available and the last day we thing wefigured out the air conditioner can double as a heater. Cute and homey decor. We didn't meet Charlotte but we were gone a couple of days exploring.

Great remote refuge

Very cozy and comfortable little cottage tucked away in a very peaceful corner of the mountains. I plan to stay here again! Host was very cordial and responsive.The road in is a little rough, not a problem for me, really, just be prepared and aware and take it slow. I recommend this one!

Just what I was hoping for! Trees, mountains, privacy, comfort... so amazing! The cabin was adorable, very well thought out, simple, comfortable, warm shower with good water pressure! Loved it so much. Close to State Parks and lots of trails, stuff to do.

Needed get-away

This is my second time staying at the Gnome Hill Cottage. It's a perfect spot for some needed get-away time. It's quiet & isolated, yet not far from Travelers Rest or several trails. Charlotte is a very thoughtful & responsive host.
