This property is very welcoming. Beautiful furnishings and rooms. Extremely neat, clean and tidy. This is not like any ordinary English pub. Staff very friendly and breakfast was great. We were very pleasantly surprised by this venue.

Just a brief overnight on a business trip. Lovely character building. Decent size free car park. Single room was pleasant and comfortable. Location is in the town, so inevitably some traffic noise specially early morning. Take earplugs if that tends to disturb you. Very friendly staff and good breakfast available from 7am, which was handy as I was travelling further on for a meeting. Highly competitive b&b rate.

Could be so much better

The young lady who welcomed me on arrival didn’t look happy. She gave me brief directions to the room and didn’t want to leave her post. I asked to book a table for dinner but when I arrived in the dinning room, there was no reservation. However, they did fit me in. There was no check back during my meal and I was left for over 25 minutes after finishing. I was going to order a pud but instead had to find someone to sort my bill. It seemed as if it was an off day for the team. At breakfast I ordered Eggs Benedict but the muffin wasn’t fresh. My stay could have been so much better, which greatly frustrates me.

The lack of lifts and the layout of the rooms is very inconvenient and confusing. My fault for not checking but there is no AC which made for a warm room. However the staff was very accommodating and breakfast was nice.

Impressive pub/hotel hybrid with vibrant wildlife art in public spaces and well equipped bedrooms. Huge bathroom with excellent walk-in shower. Great breakfast with extensive options. Very clean.
