Stayed four nights for a wedding early July 2025. Nice reception and rooftop bar and convenient for walking to downtown Cork. Parking was at train station next door and seemed safe enough but I think we got lucky finding an empty space and we did not move the car after parking it. Room was quite small but the major issue is that there is nowhere to unpack! There were 5 small pegs to hang suit and dresses (picture a piece of wood with pegs that you might use to hang keys near your front door) but nowhere to unpack anything else. Room was not big enough to have suitcases undone on floor so it really was a bit of a mess trying to get to clean clothes etc. There was a vinyl record player and Bluetooth speaker on the small table with a couple of records. If you like them it might be a nice touch but in reality it just took up most of the table so that there was even less available space! Shower and sink were slow to drain and shower actually overflowed after a couple of minutes. Spoke to reception and said that someone would be in to fix them. Went back in the afternoon and sink was better but shower not fixed. We had left towels on the floor to mop up the water and they were still there hours later. Complained and by we returned from dinner it had been fixed. Overall, not a great experience for average of ~260 USD/night. Would not recommend. Family and friends stayed at Premiere Inn down the road and their rooms had more space for less money.

Style over Substance

I'm writing this to share information so people can decide if The Dean is right for them. The focus seems to be on appearance over the practical. The room lacked storage so my luggage was kept on the couch (which wasn't angled towards anything eg TV or a table anyway) and my laptop, make-up etc had to be left out on the desk rather than put away (i had to move the obsolete turntable to make space as it took up almost half the surface). The spot where a set of drawers would sit is occupied by a fridge stocked with overpriced alcohol and cans. There's no mirror above the desk. The shower is "rainfall" which i know is very popular, but when you want to keep your hair dry and there's no shower cap and the other outlet is only hip-height, a rainfall shower is a nuisance. There is a hairdryer, but the lack of mirror above the desk requires you to still on the floor near the door if you're going to use it well. You'd be directly outside the bathroom so would block the path of who you're staying with. (Interestingly, there is a mirror in the shower...) I had a couple of queries which weren't just about my taste so had to be discussed, including a faulty Nespresso which leaked and was dangerous, and these queries were responded to appropriately by the managing team who were spot on. My observations may be irrelevant for a lot of guests and I'm not suggesting a hotel room *should* include space to store clothes or a space to tidy yourself up comfortably. Make your own decision.

Great Location, New Hotel

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Dean Cork! We were only in town for one night and opted to stay at The Dean thanks to its convenient location next to Cork Kent Station. The hotel is very nice, new. The room was small, but functional. We would definitely stay here again.

Modern with lots of fun, campy touches. They gave us sweet fruity shots at check in. The rooms are like modern vacation cabins with board and batten walls, there’s a turntable with a few classic rock LP’s and a little Marshal amp, an orange Smeg mini fridge, an old classic black dial telephone on the wall. The bed is comfortable, all white with good duvet. Bathroom is spacious with good amount of counter space. We really like this place and are glad we didn’t get the staid traditional hotel we almost got.

Style over substance

2.5/5, I wouldn’t recommend or stay again. Pros: the room is nicely decorated, and the bathroom has a spacious shower. Staff are welcoming enough. Can log into Netflix on the tv. Cons: The noise from the train station is not tolerable, with very loud noises from 4:30am until around midnight each day. Very small rooms, very little space on one side of the bed. The smell in the hotel is incredibly strong of lavender. There is nowhere to put any kind of luggage, no wardrobe or shelves. The shower is rainfall head with an additional small attachment too low down to use without holding it. No room service offered. Lighting in the bathroom is terrible for make up. Would be good to have a mirror at the desk, or a small shelf near the full length mirror. General amenities poor, have stayed in less ‘styled’ hotels which have given a better overall experience. Would choose another hotel in a better location next time.

The first night was a bit of a nightmare. They placed us in a room almost train station height on the train station side. 5:30 am we awoke to a train whistle and the smell of diesel from the train coming through our open window. The moved us to a room down the hall on the other side of the train station and it was a great experience. Nice pool, gym, sauna and steam bath. The beds were comfortable

This place was great! New and cool. Our entire group loved this place! We did not hear the train at all. They provided ear plugs if they were needed. They kept our luggage after check out while we explored the city and we easily hopped on the train for our next destination.

Style over substance. Lovely design but no wardrobe, no dressing table, no chest of drawers. Had to ask for an iron and ironing board. Can't cook a rare steak it was super overdone and ruined the whole meal. No room service when the restaurant is shut. Isn't that the point of room service. Under staffed in restaurant. Long waits for food even when done properly. Breakfast is good. Potatoes with everything. No snacks in the bar. Could do with better duvets and pillows. Very noisy on train station side. Make sure you are not on that side if staying here. Last night there was heavy drilling as they repaired a train in the station. Apparently no laws against this. The staff are very friendly. Enjoyed stay in spite of all the problems

Lovely hotel. Pity about the noise

Modern, stylish hotel, right by the train station in Cork. Great location and staff very accommodating for an early check in as I had an early flight. Bed was comfy but the pillows were terrible! Really surprising for a 4 star hotel. More annoying was the poor soundproofing of the room. The bar is very loud until midnight and we could hear outside noise as well as excited guests coming home, crashing past our room at 2 am! If you are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you, at least on the weekend.
