2/10 Terrible

My boyfriend and I booked this stay about a month in advance for my birthday trip to Dallas (Feb 25–March 2). The host was communicative and friendly before arrival, and I informed her we would be arriving late since we were traveling from out of state. When we arrived around 1–2 AM after a 6–8 hour drive, the experience quickly became frustrating. The area did not match the “upscale” description and did not feel very safe. There were homeless people nearby and the garage area was behind what appeared to be an abandoned building, which made us uncomfortable. The check-in process was also complicated with multiple steps just to access the unit. When we finally entered, the apartment was extremely hot—like a sauna. The thermostat did not work, and we were told there is no central AC, only a portable AC unit in the bedroom. While the listing mentions a portable AC, it does not clearly explain that the rest of the apartment has no air conditioning, and the living room and kitchen were extremely hot. When I asked about accommodations, the host said the only option was bringing a fan, which was not helpful. We contacted Vrbo support and after hours on the phone they issued a refund. We found a hotel downtown around 5–6 AM and had a much better stay.Future guests should know: there is no central AC—only a portable AC in the bedroom. The rest of the apartment will be hot. I will include a photo below.
