This a beautiful property with rustic cabins. There are amazing views as it is high up. We saw many birds from our balcony including green parrots and toucans. It is quite a climb from the road, definitely not accessible, but close to Drake Bay beach, a grocery store and several restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful. We pre-arranged a tour to Corcovado National Park through the hotel and it went great. You can order breakfast the day before and have it specially prepared for you at whatever time you need it. It was very good and plentiful. Some drinks are available to purchase in the reception area where you can sit and look out over the beautiful bay. We bought a few beers and some water. Very nice place.

Sunset Lodge truly did have one of the best views in Drake bay! It’s worth spending a little more to get the bungalow with the pool. It was great hanging out on the deck after a day at the beach or doing a guided activity. Also, if you like birding it’s a great spot to sit and watch! We had parrots and macaws flying over and landing in the trees right next to the bungalow. There were several local iguanas that live in the trees as well! We stayed in the Deluxe Cabin which had two AC minisplits that kept the inside nice and cool. The private pool on the deck was awesome - it was clean, cool, and VERY refreshing. Breakfast was also convenient and delicious. The only thing with Sunset Lodge is you do have to hike up some steps from the main road to get there (but is why the view is so good). We did the hike multiple times a day and it’s not too bad, 5 minutes to the beach. Would absolutely stay again!

Did not see directions and instructions as they were provided the afternoon of arrival and due to slow internet and electricity going out we did not know where to go or what breakfast location was. When we arrived at hotel we were told hostess was at our unit waiting for us but she was not. Bathroom amenities were minimal but adequate. To access bathroom you have to leave main area, go outside and enter another door, going up and down stairs from bedrooms. Not great for wet feet and middle of the night bathroom visits. Electricity was out in the entire town when we arrived so A/C wasn’t working. The windows do not have screens in them so we couldn’t leave windows open for air circulation. It appears that it is not unusual for electricity to go out so being able to open windows would be better. Also the kitchen is not sealed closed from outdoors and we had critters get in our trash in the middle of the night. Not a great design for kitchen. On the plus side the beds were comfortable, everything was clean, and once we figured out logistics location was good.

charming and comfortable accommodation a short walk from the beach and town restaurants and grocery/general store. very friendly and helpful staff. breakfast available very early to accommodate early tours. beautiful tropical setting full of birds and other wildlife. rustic but with all you need for a great stay. nicer than the pictures! steep walk to get to lodge and road to Drake Bay is very bumpy so a 4x4 is essential if you plan to drive there.

Tolle Unterkunft mit traumhaftem Ausblick

Tolle Unterkunft mit kleinen Holzhäusern. Balkon mit traumhafter Aussicht. Ausstattung eher einfach und funktional. Anfahrt mit dem Auto ist - wie der gesamte Weg nach Drake Bay - etwas schwierig. Sehr hilfreiches und nettes Personal. Sehr gutes Frühstück zu einem fairen Preis. Kurzer Weg zum Strand und zu den Ausflugsboten. Wir haben viele tolle Vögel direkt vom Balkon beobachten können.

Am Ortseingang gelegen, dadurch ruhig, tolle Aussicht über die Bucht, überdachte Dusche im Freien - sehr schön! Strand direkt vor der Unterkunft, dort wird man zu Touren abgeholt. Freundlicher Gastgeber! Etwas steile Anfahrt mit dem Auto, aber machbar.
