Started off on a rough start they didn’t have our room ready hour and a half after check in time. Then gave us room keys to a room that already had someone in it. Which made the experience bad. But after that and we got settled in the room was nice and the parking was free which was great. And great location. Some areas of the hotel need updating but inside the room was nice.

Worst stay in the history of our hotel stays Background: Traveling to Duluth with my 66 year old mother to watch our cousin play hockey for the Bulldogs. She's 66 and in heart failure. Traveling is already hard to do. 4pm: Check into our hotel, drop our stuff off, head out 8pm: Bring my mom back to the hotel to rest and walk into our room which is full of other people's belonging splayed all over the room with our stuff tucked into a corner. About $1,000 worth of my mom's heart medication, included. Staff say sorry, put us in a new room Leave my mom in new room ASSURED by staff it won't happen again 11pm: get a call from my mom that a male entered her bedroom with a key (because it was "his" room) and was just assigned by the front desk Not once, but TWICE people were assigned our room that we were already in. This is a huge breach of privacy and a BIG problem. Something seriously bad could've happened (robbery, assault, heart attack, etc) Our night was robbed, our privacy was robbed and our drive to travel again and trust the process is at a zero.

We didn’t use the hotel’s wifi. There was a used towel hanging at the back of the bathroom door and dirty utensils in the dishwasher. The nightstand, tv console and table surfaces were dusty. The tv was not plugged in at the back as well! We’ve informed the guy at the reception right away and he did apologize. But, unfortunately didn’t rectify the situation. We’ve called and requested for bed linens and pillows that took us more than 30 minutes to wait. The guy at the reception said he’ll bring them “when he get the chance.”. There were no other staffs around aside from the two guys at the reception. I have to go down and get them myself as we’re all tired especially the kids, from the long travel. We also took the initiative to at least dust off the surfaces so that we can already prepare for sleep. I was not comfortable and feel unsafe with the parking area as It was across the street and in an open area. Despite of it all, bathroom was new, bed was comfortable and the AC was good!

However, when we checked in, we noticed a few cleanliness issues that were concerning. There was hair in the sink, unflushed waste in the toilet, and oddly, pieces of cheese left in the bathroom. These things gave the impression that the space hadn't been properly cleaned before our arrival. We’d appreciate it if this could be addressed for future guests. Thank you for your attention.

We stayed for one night and enjoyed the location of this hotel. However, the title is misleading. It is not on the waterfront. It is about two blocks from Lake superior and there are no views of the lake. The check-in staff was dismal, they give you a voucher for breakfast, which was pretty poor selection. There were lots of homeless people hanging out in front of the hotel making it feel a bit awkward to walk in and out. Parking lot was fine to park in the afternoon, but by evening, it was completely full and very difficult to find a spot. We were placed in a room that did not have any windows, however, it was quite large with two exit doors. Just seemed pretty dark and depressing. In and around the entryways of the building, there were holes and divots in the walls that made the hotel look kind of dingy. It wasn’t horrible, but it was definitely not a favorite in Duluth.

Great location and nice that they ‘freshened’ up the rooms. However, we arrived at 3:30 to check in and were told our room wasn’t ready and would be another half an hour, we came back at 4:00 and waited half an hour to check in. Even after waiting for them to clean our room, when we got to our room there was food left in the fridge and male ‘parts’ drawn in the dust on the top of the fridge. We used to love staying here because of the location and breakfast but it just hasn’t been the same since management changed.

I have stayed here multiple times over the years and have to admit this property has gone downhill. The rooms are outdated, dusty, and not well cared for. We chose not to use the pullout couch due to the multiple stains on the mattress. Gross! The air system is so loud in the rooms, we had to turn the TV all the way up just to hear it. The breakfast area was so dirty, and many items were out of stock when we arrived, with over an hour left of breakfast. The garbage was overflowing, all the empty tables were dirty, there was a hair in the jelly bowl, and the plates were gone. There was not a worker in sight. We all lost our appetites and chose to eat elsewhere for breakfast. The parking can be a nightmare, and the spots in the back lot are not marked. You could easily park in the wrong area and be towed. The front desk staff were pleasant, that was the only plus, other than the location. It's so sad because this used to be such an iconic hotel. For the price, it's not worth it. We will not stay here again.
