The house has been extensively and imaginatively renovated to create a characterful base. The location is in the village of Tarbert, close to Distillery, hotels, as well as Harris Tweed and gift shops.
A wood burning stove in the sitting room and smart TVs in all bedrooms ensure everyone can be warm and entertained, even on wet or windy weather days.
The dining kitchen is perfect for leisurely breakfasts or seafood suppers with sparkling fresh shellfish from our family creel fishing boat.
The space
The house is a stone built home, dating to the late 19th century. The interior is decorated with owner Christina's original landscape paintings and collection of beautiful woven textiles and silk scarves. There are books, games, jigsaws and vintage vinyl records for guests to enjoy. Crisp Egyptian cotton bedding and plenty of towels, including beach towels are provided for your stay.
Guest access
The village of Tarbert is a picturesque hub as the main settlement in Harris. There is ample parking in front of the house and many amenities are within short walking distance, including food shops, speciality gift retail, the Harris Distillery and two hotels for meals or drinks. Transport links - ferry and bus- are a short walk from the house.
Other things to note
The upstairs bedrooms are accessed up a staircase which some guests with mobility problems may find steep.
In keeping with other properties on Tarbert's Main Street, the house has no outside garden space.
