Adventure awaits! Western NC and North GA abound with opportunities for recreation and relaxation. Set your sights on long-range views with visits to Bell Mountain in Hiawassee (20-minute drive) and Brasstown Bald (highest point in GA, 35-minute drive). Spend the day on Lake Chatuge with a boat or personal watercraft rental from a local marina or launch your own from nearby public access. Want to immerse yourself in nature in the Nantahala National Forest? Bring your mountain bikes and ride the first-class trails at Jackrabbit Mountain (also great for hiking and dog-friendly) less than 5 minutes from the property. Fires Creek Recreation Area (25-minute drive) is another Western NC local favorite for hiking with picturesque views, swimming, and trout fishing. On the GA side, take a 30-minute drive to a waterfall hike via the High Shoals Falls Trail or make the 45-minute drive to Alpine Helen, GA for a taste of Bavaria in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hungry and thirsty after a day of exploration? Visit the outstanding local restaurants, wineries, and breweries in and around downtown Hayesville and Hiawassee for not-to-be-missed tastes of local flavor.

Great Lake Vacation!

We spent 5 wonderful nights at Woodland Waters Hideaway (7 adults, 1 three year old). We found the house to be clean when we arrived and as described online. It was actually way more spacious than the photos online made it appear, so that was a pleasant surprise. We took all our food and drinks with us and had plenty of fridge and freezer space for our cold stuff. We cooked breakfast and dinner there each day and had everything we needed. We’re not very high maintenance people and found sufficient tools to get the job done. However, the kitchen utensils could use some updating (hand can opener didn’t work, not enough steak knives for everyone, 1 measuring cup and 1 measuring spoon, some really old utensils that need to be tossed) and the gas grill is in bad shape. None of this was a huge issue for us, but I know the cooking situation is important to some people. The dock is awesome! It has a sturdy ladder for getting in/out of the water in this very quiet area of the lake. Communication with the rental company was excellent. The dryer didn’t work when we tried to use it. It was reported and they had someone out there within 24 hours to look at it. It could not be repaired, but at least they sent someone out to assess the situation. The last night there, we had to kill a copperhead on the carport who wasn’t giving up his ground. It was a good reminder that wildlife is very present in the area. My family all agreed we had a great stay and would definitely vacation here again.

Great Stay

We loved staying at this property. This home was perfect for us; very clean, spacious, and well equipped. While the home was lovely, we spent the majority of our time on the beautiful boat dock with sun deck. The boat dock had 2 slips as well as a double jet ski dock. The property management company was great and had good communication with us. This property is perfect for a family vacation. We had a great time and will return.
