Well positioned, on the road, opposite a fuel station and 6mins aqay from Pantasaph Retreat centre.. old rooms but nicely maintained. Shower heads needed cleaning I did but not a unique fault of this hotel. Overall good stay.
My wife, son & I decided to have a spontaneous night away (21-6-25) and after reading a few reviews and using google for location we decided to book with the Stamford Gate Hotel.
On arrival the staff were extremely helpful and answered our questions. The room was good and I was even surprised to see trouser pressers in the room. Something I have not seen in many of years which and made me smile and have a good childhood memory of my late parents.
The building looks very pretty inside and out with a modern feel. Local ales, IPAs at the bar if you wish to have local Welsh drinks. The beds were extremely comfortable, I personally was happy to not see big fluffy pillows that feel hard in most places we stay. The rooms are spacious and great amenities like iron, kettle, teas etc.
They do have regular live events throughout the year which is great when you’re staying and huge function rooms that can hold very large groups of people.
The breakfast was phenomenal, fresh flavourful ingredients and I highly recommend their cooked breakfast if you stay.
What stood out to me and my wife was the genuine extra mile that the staff and owners Matt & Emma did for us. They took their time to have a chat with us, our son is high on the autistic spectrum and we could thank them enough for accommodating the additional needs. They both recommended a few areas we could visit and overall made our stay with them very relaxing.
The staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient.
I would have liked to view the sports on television but realise this is not for everyone but there were areas this could be accommodated if it was provided.

Good hotel based in nice location
This is very good basic hotel with all the facilities, bit tired around the edges in the in the rooms and lobby areas. Food was excellent as was the service from the staff
