Comfortable, clean, a great cost effective option

Overall good stay with the Craiglands, nice big car park and big capacity hotel with a relatively cost effective price for the area. Hotel decor and fittings are a little dated overall but by no means would I call it tatty or tired, that means lovely grand features amongst some things which feels like they could do with an update. Comfortableand clean stay. Staff were very friendly if a bit sparse during my stay. A large coach trip of East Asians happened to be staying at the same time I was there which didn't cause any real disruption to my visit except for not staying for dinner or breakfast, which I found easily a pretty short walk away (10 mins tops downhill to be in town - uphill to return if you were doing that and Ilkley is a bit hilly away from the centre being in the valley). Overall good stay, would stay again especially if price continues to be the differentiator Vs some of the more central options - I paid £90 for a night here when The Crescent in the town centre was asking £140-£150 - The Crescent is glorious but on a business trip I'm penny pinching!

Not dog friendly !

We changed our usual hotel in Ilkey due to the location of Craiglands between the moors and the town and the Best Western brand and as it stated dog friendly . The dog beds and the bottle of bubbly was a lovely touch , with a very comfy bed and great bathroom .However we felt 2nd class citizens just because of the dog . Signs on the towels asking us to use them for the use intended ! The room was long and dark and view of a pipe , mossy roof and brick wall . We had to leave the window open as the room was so hot and so was woken each morning by the kitchen extractor fan at 6-7 am . When we politely asked to move we were told there was no spaces in dog friendly rooms and they couldnt do anything about it. We would have checked out but the room was not refundable . When we saw an upgraded room it was like a different hotel . Meals/drinks had to be taken in a bar room and even when the big restaurant was closed for breakfasts we felt we were put in isolation in the bar on our own even thought the brasserie floor where everyone else was was hard and so easier to clean . No food available after 7.30 . It did feel like Marie Celeste and bars/reception had a intercom system if you needed a member of staff .Maybe no people in the bar due to the cost of drinks £16 a pint of beer and glass of wine . Unsure if we paid the same as other standard rooms but wasnt worth it ! Come on Best Western! Shame because the staff were lovely . I would add photos but this app wont let me .

Great stay

Great stay with the most friendly courteous staff I have met in a hotel. Great warm welcome at reception and great service from the staff at dinner and breakfast. Room very clean and bed and pillows very comfortable. Breakfast very good with good choice. The hotel is old fashioned and has real character I would stay again and recommend

Staff were helpful. Location is good. Only problem was the planning of the room, there was hardly any space to move around the end of the bed to get to the wardrobe.
