Magical Retreat In Julian With Pool & Amazing Views

Welcome to Shambala, a peaceful retreat in the beautiful mountains of Julian! This unique and newly renovated home is perfect for families, girls' getaways or romantic honeymoons. Shambala has magnificent views from every room, a star deck to enjoy Julian's stellar night sky, a gourmet kitchen, almost 4 acres to explore and a 40' swimming pool to dive into. Birdwatching, apple-picking, gorgeous hikes, great restaurants and fun in the snow - Julian’s got it all!

Each beautifully decorated room is filled with art, comfort and good vibes!

The main bedroom has a Juliette balcony for extra amazing mountain views, a king sized bed for the best dreams ever and an electric fireplace to keep things cozy! The second bedroom is expansive with a queen sized bed that has views to Volcan Mountain and beyond. The third bedroom, called Angels’ Landing, has its own outside access on the third floor and has two full beds tucked into this heavenly room. It even has its own star deck to gaze at the Milky Way.

The kitchen is well stocked and spacious. There is intentionally no microwave to encourage slowing down. The Italian-made convection oven will get the job done!

Both well-appointed bathrooms have lovely showers. Towels and sheets are included.

The home is heated in the winter by a wood burning stove and electric fireplaces. In the summer, this well ventilated home has fans and a portable air conditioner in the main bedroom.

The property is fully fenced which makes for a wonderful retreat for your dogs, too!

A Sonos sound system throughout the house let’s you play your music of choice.

For extra fun, we have an outdoor ping pong table, a tree swing, a hammock, a fire pit, board games and floaties for the pool.

Shambala is located in the sought-after Pine Hills community in Julian. The peaceful neighborhood is wonderful for long walks among the Pine and Oak trees with wildflowers abundant year round. Just a 5 -10 minute drive to the historic downtown Julian, you will find excellent restaurants, quaint shops and delicious apple pies. Nearby you may go wine tasting, get massages, take a yoga class, hike Volcan Mountain, drink hard cider, listen to live music and take art classes at the Hubbell Ranch. At night, the stars are spectacular with Julian proudly being a certified International Dark Sky community. Julian truly has it all for a fun, refreshing and dynamic getaway!

Peaceful getaway

Shambala is a beautiful and peaceful getaway. Great place for relaxing and enjoying nature - lots of birdwatching, tree watching and stargazing. Beautiful art and a well-supplied kitchen. We were there during a cold snap, and the wood fireplace took a long time to heat the house, but Jill was very responsive and provided extra blankets and a space heater which kept us cozy and warm. We had an utterly relaxing weekend and would definitely come back!

Delightful home in a beautiful location!

3 generations of our family enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving at this warm and inviting home. The views are spectacular, and all the little details around the property were great fun to explore! Kitchen is very well stocked. The wood-burning stove and electric fireplaces did a remarkable job of heating the entire place but did take a little to warm up, so we were grateful to have brought a couple of small space heaters for the extra bedrooms. The bedroom under the eaves with the 2 full beds is accessed by a narrow outdoor staircase leading from the porch, with no connection to a bathroom or the rest of the house that does not require going outside - we were able to make this work just fine, but it could be helpful to know in planning sleeping arrangements with a larger group. Overall, the house is just bursting with charm, and the setting is gorgeous, with birds and wildlife all around - we got a good chuckle when we woke up Thanksgiving morning to find a flock of turkeys right outside the door! Thanks, Jill, for your hospitality, and for sharing your lovely home.

Magical property

We had an amazing time staying here. The property is even better than we expected. Jill is a wonderful host, she was very helpful and responsive to any queries that we had. The house and large property surrounding it are very well taken care of, it is clear that amazing amount of thought, love and effort went into every detail. Thank you for hosting us! We really hope that we get a chance to stay here again in the future.

Restful Haven Indeed

This property is so beautiful and relaxing: we enjoyed much needed time together as a family. Playing in the pool, enjoying the swing, and playing games and exploring the property by day, gazing at stars at night. It was unseasonably hot when we were there so the typical breeze was nonexistent. The owner immediately went to get an ac unit for the third floor so our kids could sleep comfortably. They know hospitality and care! We absolutely loved our time- we just wished it was longer!

Peaceful

I needed a place to process the final stages of my divorce, and the Magical Retreat was just what I needed. The energy of the place is filled with love, it’s vibrant, and has lots of natural light with the numerous windows. Beautifully decorated with positive messages throughout. The outdoor space was amazing with cute fairy doors, a labyrinth, and more. Jill accommodated my request to extend my stay. I will definitely be going back this summer.
