There are two addresses on the street with the name Hotel Guanacaste - this one is the one called Restaurante Rancho y Hotel Guanacaste on Google maps! I've stayed at the Hotel Guanacaste for 15 years - the only times i have not is when they haven't had a room available- it's my preferred local. It's not a fancy place, but it suits my needs. It is very close to the bus stations and dining choices

Although the room was small and simple, it was clean, comfortable, and with good A/C. No hot water but who needs it in 33 degree heat. A bit noisy from the adjacent bar, but no problem with ear plugs. Good food in the attached restaurant. The staff were fabulous - friendly and super helpful and went out of their way.

This is your local Tico hotel. No friles, no bells and whistles very basic but very old. The price is cheap for a reason but it is in a very good location.
