Lovely hotel but stay spoiled by building works

Checkin was good, clean attractive reception area. Room spacious, clean and modern. Coffee machine and water provided, robes, all as expected. Smart TV that was easy to connect to cast from device. Unfortunately, there was ongoing building work at hotel, which was not clear through hotels.com. Room faced directly onto building works which started at 6am with workers shouting outside the room. Called reception who stopped the works, saying they should not have started until 8.30, but started again at 8. Could not sleep from 6 due to being disturbed. Spoke to reception manager who apologised and was offered complementary breakfast (which was accepted) and offered future discount. So, recovery good but could have notified on check in to avoid this horrible surprise. Would stay again if works are completed.

Excellent stay. I recommend highly. The staff was wonderful. Stephanie at the front desk went above and beyond our expectations. She was incredibly helpful .. her help and assistance turned a very good stay into an outstanding one.

Not what it seems

I chose the Lodge in Putney based on its location, the price and the photos online. The location is relatively close to Roehampton University, public transport, and walking distance to restaurants and pubs. So that receives 5 stars. The hotel is not as new and well kept as it appears online. I was in room number 60. This room is in the basement and the window was near where the hotel staff keeps their repair equipment. So every night/day I heard ladders moving people talking near my window, etc. I did not have a peaceful rest. There’s also no elevator. So you will have to carry your luggage up and down a lot of stairs. And the room was so small. As soon as I opened the door the bed was literally right there. I had to work to actually get my luggage in the room. The bathroom was nice and modern, but not big. And my last issue was the price. The online listed price was way lower than the price I paid at the hotel. I ended up paying over $120 more! The concierge stated the website didn’t include resort and other fees… I booked through hotels.com so in my opinion all fees should have been listed. The hotel has a restaurant and bar so that’s convenient. But breakfast is not included, the breakfast is ok at best so for the price I would head to a local restaurant. And lastly there’s no transportation services. I personally wouldnt stay here again.

Great stay, the staff I met were all friendly and helped out both myself and my dog. My room was quiet and very cosy, with more amenities than I was expecting. The location is very handy for buses, trains and the tube into London, particularly trains to Waterloo in 15 mins or less. Lots of green space nearby. Ideal for exploring if you also want to experience a more relaxed stay than the city centre.

Ok but pricey for a tidy hotel.

Building work on going so some areas not at best. Car parking limited but ok. Rooms neat and comfortable. Breakfast average but expensive. No table service for drinks. Bar prices extortionate for average beer and wine. Location good for wedding
