Lovely room. Good size. Ideal for Les Miserables at the Sondheim Theatre as only a couple of minutes walk away. Also across the road from Chinatown, and close to Leicester Square.

Good stay

Really nothing to complain about. Louvain was excellent. Booked a Delux room and was given a room overlooking the main road on the first floor. Would usually hand been concerned about noise, but sound insulation was excellent. Rooms were clean. Bathrooms were fine - a couple of cracked floor tiles which could be replaced, but nothing significant. All the basics were there. Delux room also had complimentary water and fruit (paid minibar - required a £30 returnable deposit paid on chrckin). No restaurant which might be a issue for some, but honestly you're in the middle of everything, so plenty of restaurants and cafes outside (if your stay includes breakfast, believe this includes a voucher for the Gail's cafe nextdoor - fine for coffee and croissants). All in, a decent stay for the price.

Breakfast and amenities

The hotel is on a busy street that is used by very loud cars and bikes through the night, if you don't sleep well this isn't the hotel for you. The room we stayed in had secondary glazing however this did nothing to help with the traffic noise in the night. The hotel do not offer a cooked breakfast in the morning, breakfast is from Clair's Café next door to the hotel and didn't offer anything to set you up for a day walking in London we booked in at a nearby restaurant for breakfast. Although the hotel says it has a bar there isn't one, there are lots of bars in the area and there is one next door just not one in the hotel.

Whilst a central hotel being right near Chiba town, Soho and Leicester Square the only downside being on a main road it was very noisy all night and early morning so didn’t sleep very well. In our room we couldn’t switch the bathroom light off unless we took the door key out so made it difficult to see in the night when we got up to use the bathroom. Had an issue with the telephone going off at 3am so had to unplug it. That said the extra little touches like fresh fruit and wine and nuts was welcomed.

Great location and service.

Centrally located and the staff was very friendly and attentive! Glass water bottles each day and a Nespresso machine in the room. Actual room to move around in the Jr Suite for myself and two daughters to stay all on one room.

It is hard to start a review of the Montcalm without highlighting the location in the West End. As someone with a mobility impairment, it was a delight to be steps away from so many theaters (including those hosting Hadestown, Oliver, Fawlty Towers, and Les Miserables). On top of that, there are numerous affordable and tasty restaurants close by, including Vietnamese, Chinese, Brazilian, Japanese, steakhouses, and other ethnic cuisines. For travelers on a budget who do not want to give up food quality and other values (cleanliness and ambience), this is an ideal place to stay. Then there is the physical environment of the hotel. There is a well-lit and inviting lobby. Guestrooms are not huge, but they are well-furnished and stocked with water and fresh fruit. Bathrooms are clean and well-designed. Linens are high quality and rooms are reached through a fast, convenient elevator. Just remember to bring multiple adapters if you are not native to the U.K electrical system. Staff was friendly and helpful and the room prices are reasonable. This is an outstanding choice for tourists, especially for those with theater plans in the West End.
