Overview

The Cocoon is an adults-only forest retreat designed to help you slow down. Bordering 27,000 acres of protected state forest, it's quiet, private, and thoughtfully curated. Guests often describe their stay as magical, cozy, and unforgettable—a reflection of the intentional design, thoughtful details, and immersive forest setting.

The Space

Inside you'll find a queen bed tucked on a loft beneath a skylight, inviting you to fall asleep beneath the stars. Below, a well-equipped kitchenette and cozy sitting area are centered around a dramatic panoramic window overlooking the forest. Step outside onto your private deck, where you'll find outdoor seating, a propane grill, and your own private outdoor soaking tub surrounded by nature.

Signature Features

Wake to the forest, soak beneath the trees, and fall asleep beneath the stars. From your private outdoor soaking tub and fire pit to the lofted bed beneath the skylight, every detail is designed to help you slow down and reconnect with nature.

Private Bathroom

Your private bathroom is located just a short walk from the dome in our nearby bathhouse and is never shared with other guests. Thoughtfully designed as its own cozy retreat, the magic and attention to detail continue beyond the dome itself.

Thoughtful Extras

All linens and towels are provided, along with coffee, tea, creamer, spices, oils, basic condiments, plus shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Disconnect to Reconnect

Wi-Fi is available, though cell service is limited. Guests are encouraged to unplug and lean into the stillness of the forest. Inside the dome, you'll find a curated collection of screen-free comforts, including a record player with a small vinyl collection, games, puzzles, coloring books, musical instruments, yoga mats, and other thoughtful touches designed to help you rest, create, and simply be.

The Cacoon was packed with amenities that were helpfully labeled with instructions. The Cacoon is set in an amazing setting full of nature and very quiet. The tub on the deck was a lot of fun and very relaxing! The dome is furnished with care and even the detached bathroom is well decorated, clean, and high quality!

The perfect traveling stop!

The domes have the perfect setup and activity options! I would have loved to have had some more time there…as it was, it was my first stop of a pretty extensive time traveling. I’m so glad I chose Rooted Dome because it was true break, not just an overnight stop!

We stayed in the Cocoon and it was more than we could have expected. There was no detail they didnt of. It was spotless and welcoming. So cozy and peaceful! We will 100% be back. We have been having about it to all our friends to go stay! The bathroom was also amazing and so clean! We felt right at home and were able to disconnect from the world and relax.

Perfect Calm Getaway

Property blew us away! From the wooden walkway to get there, to the patio area, we were WOWED the whole time. So many little details went into this property and we were so grateful to spend our weekend there! Highly recommend.

It was amazing to unplug!

I work in property management and appreciated every tiny detail. Everything was so clean. We had a dog with us and there was a lot after and good bowl ready when we arrived. There was also a pet bed out. Everything you need was there. I loved the stamp on the toilet paper! Every detail was thought of! There were “how to” inspections on things, extra blankets, and activities! The communication and accommodations were great! I can’t say enough positive things! I look forward to another stay!

Everything was so purposeful and thought out. Falling asleep to the stars above was barely short of magical. I loved the Polaroid camera and writing prompts guestbook.
