Breakfast was ok, it was busy and lack of staff meant the tables were not set properly and no plates, glasses put out so had to wait around for plates and chase staff for glasses. We had to ask several staff. Room didnt have enough pillows one pillow per person. Also there were four of us and only three sets of towels. One lamp was broken in the room and did not work. Also there were food under the bed that looked like it had been there a while. There was a very old discoloured bath mat in the room also which had seen better days. Also we go locked out of our room as New Year’s Day was a alate check out (1pm). The hotel had not set checkout to a later time so we were locked out for some time. Came back from Breakfast and couldn’t get back in the room. So had to take 3 floors and a long walk back to reception as no one would answer the phone on reception.

Hotel communal spaces had had an upgrade since my last visit many years ago. Bar was lovely. Hotel was warm. Service was good. The room was comfortable and spacious but a bit disjointed decor wise.. armchair in front of full length mirror, huge mirror on the wall above the dressing table that was out of proportion and not terribly functional and lamp that didn’t really suit any of it and the room got a bit chilly overnight (it was minus 4 outside though). Bathroom was a bit tired looking but clean. Major thing that we fed back to staff was how cold the changing room in the leisure area was and I was very underwowed by the pool area so was relieved I hadn't booked it as a special spa break. The building and the setting are beautiful though and the room was perfectly adequate for our needs.

Beautiful old country manor with original Features in many parts of the hotel. Location isn’t too far from the centre of Norwich to take a taxi. We always stay in the more modern rooms which are very comfortable. The spa is nice but hot tub and pool have been a little cold on our last two visits. Breakfast choice is fantastic and lovely staff. Room improvements would include some water glasses, hair conditioner and our bathroom had a cracked sink
