Welcome to The Yellow Door — a light-filled, mountain-view ground-floor bungalow at the iconic and storied Ocotillo Lodge, home of Palm Springs’ famous champagne cork pool (one of the largest in town). Built in 1956 by renowned architect William Krisel and the Alexander Construction Co., the Ocotillo Lodge is one of Palm Springs’ mid-century gems. Steeped in Old Hollywood glamour, the resort once welcomed icons like Lucille Ball, Marilyn Monroe, the Rat Pack, and now you!
Recently renovated with thoughtful attention to the property’s mid-century roots, The Yellow Door offers a relaxing “ultimate hotel suite” feel — with all the comfort and convenience of a well-stocked home.
The unit is a one-bedroom bungalow with a private landscaped patio designed for seamless indoor/outdoor living — the quintessential Palm Springs experience. You’ll be just steps from the pool, facing the San Jacinto Mountains.
As our guest, you’ll enjoy full access to Ocotillo Lodge amenities, including the iconic pool, two spas, fitness room, Sunshine Bar (outdoor unmanned bar area), fitness room and desert landscaping and shared grounds.

Centrally located in Palm Springs, you’re close to everything: Downtown restaurants, bars, and nightlife + Uptown Design District galleries + hot spots + Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. A quick ride from Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) and close to local favorite Koffi and nearby dining.

Professionally managed for a worry-free stay. You’ll be greeted on-site at check-in by our local host for an easy arrival and orientation.

Rules & Regulations
CITY OF PALM SPRINGS VACATION RENTAL RULES
The City of Palm Springs ID # 068564
No parties or large gatherings.
This is a quiet, historic community — please be respectful of neighbors and the property.
Guest Requirements
Primary renter must be 25+
Daytime occupancy: max 6 people
Overnight occupancy: max 2 people
Noise Ordinance (Strictly Enforced)
Palm Springs enforces strict vacation rental noise policies:
No outside music at any time + music from inside may not be audible beyond the property line.
Quiet hours begin at 10:00 PM (no outside noise after 10 PM)
Ocotillo Lodge has a strict noise policy + music should only be enjoyed indoors - with exception of the era-specific tunes playing poolside.
**If the City issues a violation, the guest will be responsible for all fines and may be evicted without refund.
Smoking
No smoking anywhere in the complex, including the unit and patio. Evidence of smoking will result in a $250 additional cleaning fee.
Parking
The parking lot for Ocotillo Lodge near Gate 2 is the best location for the unit. Parking spaces surround the gates and are abundant (no designated spots).
Arrival / Departure
Check-in: 4:00 PM
Check-out: 11:00 AM
Late check-outs without prior approval will incur a $250 fee, as we need time to prepare for incoming guests.
City Requirements
The City of Palm Springs requires:
A signed rental agreement for all stays.
A copy of the primary renter’s government-issued ID and an Ocotillo Lodge rules + regs form will need to be signed as well and will be completed at check-in.
Taxes
For stays under 28 days, the City requires guests to pay:
Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) + Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) assessment - 12.5 percent occupancy tax is separated out from the gross payment. You are not responsible for further collection from Palm Springs as we pay that for you.

You will have full access to our unit which is part of one of 4 in the bungalow. Access to the shared common spaces: pool, spas, fitness center, Sunshine Bar, grounds.
We have a property manager and will have his number for any questions or concerns.
