Wonderful apartment, terrible management - they made a mistake and almost kicked us out!

We arrived in Paris on an overnight flight and paid extra to get in the apartment early. My kids were already asleep when I got an email (see below) at 2PM/7AM that our reservation had been cancelled! Confused, I contacted Checkmyguest, the management service whose number was in the apartment. The woman I spoke with said she we had to vacate the apartment immediately as the reservation had been cancelled and she could not give any more information. I asked to speak to a manager to which she responded no, "we don't do that in France". I asked her if she would find us a new apartment and she said our money would be refunded and we could find a hotel. She was beyond rude.I hung up in shock. I then got online and called VRBO.The person I spoke to was WONDERFUL. He called Checkmyguest and got in touch with the manager who reiterated what the first woman had said and then told us that if we weren't out of the apartment in the hour, he would call the police! The VRBO rep, along with my husband and I, started frantically looking for hotels while my kids packed up. About 20 minutes later, we got a call Checkmyguest who told us that there had been a booking mistake and a colleague had accidentally erased our booking. He was sorry.Our stay in the apartment ended up being lovely, even though the first night there was no AC and it was 90 degrees. We are reconsidering using VRBO for future international travel considering how easily we could have been without accomodations.

DO NOT BOOK!

Against my good judgement, I booked this property based on the decent reviews it received. Here’s the review that should have been posted warning you about this property:1. The location is TERRIBLE. If you enjoy walking the streets of Paris, don’t stay here. It’s located in a very unsafe neighborhood- we had to uber everywhere we went due to not feeling safe. Garbage, graffiti everywhere - it’s not the neighborhood you want your family staying in.2. The bathrooms have a severe mold problem. The type of mold problem that will require construction and remediation. There is peeling and bubbled up paint in the corner which is just one of the signs of what a deep mold issue that exists in the apartment. I have pictures and reported to VRBO. 3. The air conditioning did not work. I reported it to the property manager. I got the runaround for a few days but in the end, they did nothing to fix it. We stayed there several days and got zero sleep.4. The windows do not have properly window treatments - letting light in all night long. There was one bedroom that actually got dark at night, but otherwise, every other sleeping space has a ton of light.I have submitted my screenshots of the unprofessional behavior of the property manager and pictures with evidence this property should not be allowed to be rented until they have done construction and treated the mold behind the wall. We travel extensively and stay in VRBO’s 90% of the time. This is the worst one yet.
