For nature lovers: Charming 2-bedroom farmhouse in beautiful Lanesborough, MA

AVAILABLE ONLY FOR THE FULL MONTH OF AUGUST, for $4,000. This sweet, old-fashioned farmhouse is located on a 2-acre lot on a safe, quiet dirt road enclosed on three sides by the northern Berkshire hills, with plenty of peace and privacy and a horse farm and five horses grazing across the street. Suggested occupancy is a couple or or three people who will treat the house kindly. No pets or smokers, please. There's not a lot of traffic, but do expect to see horses being ridden by on the road. We have 'big sky' out here, and evening walks and stargazing are beautiful, with lots of owls calling. House and garage are separate buildings; the garage has two kayaks (the wide, safe kind) for paddling on nearby Onota and Pontusac lakes, with several boat launches a couple of miles from the house. A hammock is slung in the shade between two spruces, near the brook, which runs the length of the back yard - fun to wade or cool your watermelons in! We have lots of birds here, including a great blue heron who flies by daily. There's a new grill in the garage so you can grill your dinners. The patio has a small glass breakfast table, so you can step outside to have your coffee, and there's a larger wrought iron table and chair set under the twin maples for outdoor dining in the shade. Full disclosure: this house is wonderful and welcoming, but not fully updated (the cabinets and countertop are clean and nice but date from the mid-40's, when the house was built - countertops are white with gold sparkles! - and the fireplace is electric only, as the actual wood-burning fireplace needs updating). The two bedrooms (8x10 & 8x12) and the bathroom are small, but cozy and sweet. The main bedroom has a closet and the other bedroom has a chest of drawers and shelves with linens. The bathroom is small, with a new soaking tub/shower. There's a small studio space in the basement, with paints and a horseshoe table and a sliding glass door and a comfy twin sofabed (it's cool even on the hottest days). The living room is 17x17, with picture windows on the north and south of the house for great views and crossbreezes and leather couch and club chair. There is AC in the living room that also keeps the kitchen cool, and a fan in the bedrooms, including a vertical fan to pull the AC-cooled air into the bedrooms if needed. Please note: there is no AC in the bedrooms, which are on the east side of the house, with morning light. There's a dining room off the kitchen, with windows showing the views on three sides. The kitchen is old fashioned but well-stocked, with a closet pantry, a washer/dryer, fridge, electric stove, and filtered water. Windows are sash and casement. Flooring is laminate, with tile in bath and painted pine flooring in bedrooms. Soaps, shampoo, detergents for washer and dishwasher, TP, linens and towels included - all clean and nice. TV and high-speed WiFi come with the house, but there are lots of books to read and nature to immerse yourself in as well. 25 minutes to Lenox and Tanglewood and 25 minutes to Williamstown or North Adams. Lots of hiking trails nearby, farms and farmstands, cultural attractions such as Jacob's Pillow, Barrington Stage, The Clark, etc. This is a wonderful property for anyone looking to fully experience the Berkshire countryside. Again, this house is for rent for the full month of August only.
