Paradise in Placencia!

Absolutely lovely spot in the village within walking distance of everything. Gorgeous pool and beach. Exceptional staff. Rooms are posh for sure. Ask for first or second floor as there isn't an elevator but strong folks took care of luggage! Definitely coming back.

This property advertises itself as a "luxury boutique" hotel. It was neither. The bathroom floor was dirty and not cleaned in spite of my request. Bath towels were tattered and worn; shower tiles had black mildew patches. We had only two beach towels for two guests and were denied others when I requested them. I had to insist I be given more than two towels after my repeated requests for towels at a beach resort were denied. There was no evidence of a manger. There wasn't anything hanging on the white walls of the guest room, while the small lobby had three large matching abstract canvases spray painted in red paint. The interiors were drab though very white. Bed was comfortable and air conditioning worked well. Outdoor seating banquettes at restaurant were rotted and did not support our sitting on them. Restaurant staff were friendly. In summary, we felt this was an unmanaged, disappointing hotel that was too costly for the accommodations and service offered.

The staff were incredible and were always willing to go the extra mile. We brought our toddler with us and he was so happy interacting with everyone around the hotel it was a great trip.

Attractive but not comfortable

The people were awesome, location awesome, bed and bathroom awesome… However, the furniture in the living areas and balcony was not comfortable… it was attractive but not comfortable. It seemed as though whoever decorated the room was more concerned on having a certain modern “look” than to comfort and convenience. Could have also used a desk and a small table with chairs.

5 amazing nights in a paradise

It’s the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It’s new and wonderfully maintained. All staff was super attentive and helpful. They took care of us so well: taxi rides. excursions and everything we needed we got from the personnel of the hotel. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, huge bathrooms and balcony. The beach is so nice and private. We miss the Ellysian Boutique already and can’t wait be back one day

My sisters and I had an absolutely wonderful experience. The hotel and location were perfect. All of the hotel staff were extremely professional, courteous, attentive, and truly caring. I would highly recommend this place, especially if you are visiting for the first time.

This review provides an in-depth analysis of our stay at The Ellysian. While the property lists multiple amenities, be aware that airport transfer is not free. The hotel offers room service and a pool bar for its guests. However, on one day during our stay, we were informed that the restaurant, room service, and pool bar would be closed. Despite the lack of these services, we were still charged the full rate for that day, which I believe should have been discounted. The following day, the pool bar remained closed as well. We dined at the rooftop restaurant, Muna, on two occasions. The first night, I ordered the stew chicken, which I would rate 3/10, the seasoning was lacking. However, I decided to give them another try and ordered the grilled pork chop the next night, which was excellent—9/10. My wife had pasta both nights, and both dishes were solid, earning an 8/10. The first night, the temperature in the restaurant was comfortable with the AC keeping us cool. However, the second night, the restaurant was uncomfortably hot. They had the doors open, hoping for a breeze, but it never came. Despite this, Arlan provided good service. The hotel’s location is convenient, situated on the boardwalk. Can walk the entire boardwalk in 15 minutes. Shadine was very friendly. The bathrooms could use some renovations. The garbage can and toilet brush holder were rusted. The tiles have little chips missing out of some of them. glass door leading to the pool from our room huge crack.

Great location, best staff, bad policies

We stayed at the Ellysian for a little over a week in July. The property itself is a nice small boutique hotel and has beautiful grounds. There is also a restaurant on the roof. Our stay had a rough start as maid service let themselves in after the first night, and this wasn’t a big deal as they had just forgotten to leave us a Do Not Disturb sign. They left us a sign a few miniatures after. However, the next morning we we intruded upon again. I double checked and we did hang the Do Not Disturb sign. I went to talk to the front desk and they apologized and said they had notes we were in an excursion and had left the sign up accidentally. While they were correct about the excursion, it had been cancelled due to weather. I don’t know I had to tell the hotel every day what my schedule was. Why not just respect the door sign like other hotels? Otherwise, they should add second locks inside the room door like other hotels. That was no chance of intrusion. We also had to move rooms due to noise from roof restaurant. Final seating is 8pm but guests were up there until after midnight and we had to be up early for excursion. So no uninterrupted sleep for 4/8 nights. Also staff used our shared balcony to run food to other rooms , so no privacy there either. Overall amazing grounds, great front desk staff (special note to them for being so kind), mediocre food, and the best location in southern Belize. But some bad policies on cleaning and restaurant hours really ruined our sleep/trip

Decent beachfront hotel

The location is nice, the hotel is beachfront. Pool is on the smaller side. Staff was accommodating. I wasn't really satisfied with the cleanliness/upkeep of bathroom (there were cracked tiles, stained caulk, and dirty baseboards) but if they did some minor work, it would be nice.
